Show us Your own Artwork ๐จ, by Sic on Jun 2, 2015 19:59:46 GMT 1, I have been messing around with paints and canvas for a good while now. I do a bit of stuff with acrylic and spray paint. But I have just recently started working with designing and cutting stencils.
I can say thank you enough to Aza for all the tips, tricks, and positive energy. He's been great about answering my questions and helping me keep my direction.
This is an image of a friend of mine, she had it taken a few years ago for a model shoot and I've always hung onto it, wanting to do something with it eventually.
I came up with an eight layer stencil, ranging from black-through grey-down to white. The canvas is 22x28 (56x71cm). I had to print out each stencil onto nine separate sheets of paper and then piece them back together on a larger thin poster board, so I could keep the rigidity I was looking for. It took me about two straight weeks of cutting to get through them all.
Let me know what you think.

Show us Your own Artwork ๐จ, by Coach on Jun 11, 2015 11:23:17 GMT 1, Kinda reluctant to post anymore of my stuff on here given the recent slagging of stencil techniques on a different thread but whateveeeeerrr. Well the bass is currently on tour somewhere in the UK so I've started to clog up the stencil with more spraypaint and paint more onto 6mm plywood.
Which thread was that mate? These look great. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe someone like Penny could use some tips from forum members as he's not doing that well from it.

Show us Your own Artwork ๐จ, by Wearology on Jun 11, 2015 12:27:33 GMT 1, I love stencils and believe that the simplicity of a stencil can be just as good visually as the complexity of an oil panting. Please do not let one individuals negative opinion influence your desire to post images of your fine work. Some people come to my home and look at the stencil art on my wall and tell me their kids can do that - I simply smile and take it as a complement. The last guy that told me my house looks like a junk yard threw up on the walls, was pointing to a 6 foot "Marine Couple" by Banksy during his declaration.

Show us Your own Artwork ๐จ, by iamzero on Jun 11, 2015 12:57:03 GMT 1, Thanks for the compliment in there dude and I agree that aside from Penny the simple single layer stencil is the true genius. It takes skill and talent to create an image like Banksy does combining a message, humour, and making it captivating with so little. Its a steep learning curve with stencil making for me at least, learning how to layer up, learning how to prepare an image. Getting used to cutting and spraying. Know what to leave out of an image but getting the most impact is the toughest thing though. I could've cut the Ape using 20 layers and it could've looked amazing but that's not what I was going for and it was hard to restrict myself to a chosen colour palette.
