Apologies in advance, I remember seeing a thread dedicated to deciphering signatures but I failed to find it. 

I picked up this oil painting from the streets on Hong Kong about 15 years ago. I’ve never been able to figure out who the artist is, any help would be appreciated.

Hmmmm what does the signature say? Wartier Wastier 😆 could it be just a made up name. As you said it come from the streets, sound like the artist might not be searchable online.

I wish I knew for sure, it’s been a long time (and my only time visiting), but I think it was the Ap Liu street market.

If it's a street market, the artist is likely to be either unknown from the crowd, being a street market artist.

Hi all,

I'm looking at purchasing a ~$10,000 print on Artsy that is currently in Hong Kong. I'm in the USA and don't have any experience with making such a purchase and getting that item shipped to me.

Can anyone who's gone through a similar scenario give me some pointers and shed some light on what I should expect as far as declared value and import fees? Also, I should probably declare the full value of what I'll pay for the print, right?

The gallery is named Gniyrc Contemporary Art Space. The item is already packed (in its original packing, none the less) so I won't have to worry part.

I believe the real origin of the phrase is Latin. But as you pointed out, the phrase was appropriated and placed at Buchenwald - the Nazis did not invent the phrase, they just appropriated it.
