LONDON Street Art, by dibbs45 on Jan 8, 2017 0:23:06 GMT 1, Having been into the scene for a while i thought i'd better get my ass out and check out some bits on the street for real - so me and a pal spent a very pleasant day yesterday mooching the streets of london, taking it all in! What a great day ;D Many thanks to a forum member who sorted me out some advice on what areas and streets to hit We got the tube to Old St and stumbled upon my first Banksy! - the girl with skull from there we basically just wandered and mooched and stumbled around - old st shoreditch hoxton took in a few galleries, the walker show, pure evil, Leonard st as the beers kicked in we took in less and disappointed ourselves by not making it to the new banksy - we were simply too wasted! Anyway anyone who hasn't hit that area should do - what a great day! lots of random bits and lots you instantly recognise check out a few of my holiday snaps! RIGHT NR OLD ST TUBE BEHIND A LOAD OF BINS - THIS LOOKED BRILLIANT! WHATS LEFT OF HAPPY CHOPPERS - what a waste get it uncovered! Hope this hasn't bored you too much - it was inspirational to be out there amongst it all - much better than any gallery exhibition - going to plan out a more thorough route and do it again soon... CHEERS! ;D Great spotting You do realise you are quoting from a the thread that started in 2008. Most of these images don't exist round London now. Banksy's Happy choppers is still there but the rest have gone a few years ago.

Better for the graff imo. The graffiti is all gone and somebody has attempted a clean up, however, while they were there they turned the entire thing into a medieval hunting scene with tribes people stabbing the Roa hog with spears. I'm not a fan of this sort of intervention and restoration, the walls should take their natural course but hey ho, different strokes for different folks and all that.

I have not seen the "restoration", but agree with your comments about the ephemeral nature of street art.

LONDON Street Art, by frankiefrench on Mar 10, 2017 10:56:52 GMT 1, Cheers coach, I would very much doubt that this resto job has been arranged with the blessing of Roa. We were sat out there on the chairs yesterday hanging out and it did get some odd comments, the usual slew of tourists stabbing phones in the air and walking off without even really looking at what's in front of them.

The restoration if you can call it that was by Jim Vision.
