It's about affordability, I can't afford £600 odd pounds for a print, but £200 sounds good to me.
AND I think Trolly Hunting is one of the best ones.

...20:48 - Decide to call it a day and only refresh every other minute


...21:46 - Realise I own a mobile phone so decide to switch it on.... 27 messages

...22:54 - Now its getting 'boring'

...23:57 - Ask myself "what am I doing?" then carry on doing what I'm doing.

i obviously don't buy something without seeing it first, but it seems that several thousand people are more concerned in clicking refresh in the hope of owning anything.
are we not to appreciate the art? or is it just dollar signs people are seeing these days?

The beauty of film would be it would all take place in one room. Only 2 characters required - those being:

Sad Bloke
Sad Blokes Other half

Low budget guerrilla film making at it's best.

The budget would be low aswell as nothing really happens. I think a 10 min short would actually be quite possible. Then it'd get picked up by a hollywood studio so the rewrite would include a couple of car chases, some gun shots, bare breasts (and an arse thrown in for good measure), a punch up, a sex scene, a musical montage, and a happy ending :-)

I do see your point here and agree to some extent, but I'm starting to get fed up, not as excited by it all as I was.
Maybe the banksy bubble has burst now everyone's heard of him, his prints are becoming more common and traded around so everyone can own them.
Having one on your wall could soon become the modern day tennis player scratching her arse...

think of all the good stuff he's done recently (e.g. some of the stuff on the streets and the stuff at LA) and ask yourself if any of these 6 measure up to them.....

I would think that the order system dunt do that sort of thing, but maybe if they spot it when they are getting ready to post them out they might stop the order, and give a refund

eg: people in shared housing - their CC details will all show the same address but they are unconnected.
Would you be happy if the guy in the next room could order but you can't because of him?

it could be that the system logs the ip address of the computer and only allows one that way, or it could be the address, or it could be one person via name on credit card

You could just as easily get someone you don't live with to order another for you as you could someone you do live with.

They're doing their best to prevent people blatantly ordering 10 at a time,
trying to cross check IP addy's etc would be pointless.

personally, the 100s, maybe 1000s of you clicking refresh are not 'loving' art anymore than any other collector, but you could say that you are more interested in how much you can make from selling on ebay.

half the posts on this forum are about the recent value of a certain print, the expected release date of an item you are wishing to purchase based on a thumbprint, the refresh obsession.

buying a Banksy won't make you cool. sorry folks.

True! If the Trolley Hunters is printed in black & white, Im gonna be very disapointed I have come to the point where most of the Banksy prices are a bit out of my league, so Im going for more DFace ;D and some of the others

Exactly!! Good point well made. This forum used to be a whole lot more interesting (i.e. talking about ALL aspects of Banksys work - not just prints) Personally, there is only one print I like of the new ones - but none are as good as I would have wanted them to be.

The street pieces and some of the new bits that were at the show far outshine the prints - I get more of a buzz of talking about and seeing new bits that have gone up in the street than waiting or guessing when a new print will come, how quickly it will sell out, how much we hate the scalpers (which I do, dont get me wrong) but to be talking about the same things over and over is getting a bit tired now (actually a lonnnng time ago!)

I know there isn't much else to tlak about that is current for the streets - or anything else non print related, but this used to be a good place to come to get info about him in general - now its just print, print, print, print, print.

Frankly I wouldn't give a stuff if he never released a print again and just got on with spanking up the streets big time. Free art for all!!

I'll bet they wish they only did 100 of each for the show as this is now turning into a nightmare. I feel for POW stuck in the middle of this feeding frenzy

There are a lot of people on this site who say make it more accessable i personally think it will now go the other way and the next sets of prints will be like the Soup Can editions and be runs of 10 rather than 500.

i would also would rather see lots of new work on the streets cos thats what i love the most. Cant beat walking the streets and finding a new piece.

Banksy = big money for small time ebay dealers.

Lets guess how many Trolly hunters appear on ebay within 24 hours. before people pipe up and say its only a small minority, well that minority are taking all the fun and enjoyment out of collecting Banksy's work.
