Am I being thick? , by victorwilliams on Oct 9, 2006 16:32:24 GMT 1, Reading the post on here at, the LA show prints were going for around the equivalent of £250? is that right?
Are POW gonna release these prints over here ?At Santa's Ghetto? And... Is it true that Santa's Ghetto isn't gonna be in the UK? Anyone else think thats a bit wrong?

Am I being thick? , by foundation on Oct 9, 2006 16:39:25 GMT 1, No confirmation where the ghetto is going to be, there was roumours about new york if the correct venue could be found, if not, most likely blighty, somewhere.

Am I being thick? , by victorwilliams on Oct 9, 2006 16:47:18 GMT 1, If it is in new york then I image all the prints would be sold out before POW would get the chance to put them online, yeah? So unless we've got the odd god knows how much money to spend on a flight to New York theres no chance in picking up a new print. Correct?

Am I being thick? , by foundation on Oct 9, 2006 16:53:02 GMT 1, It unfortunatley looks that way, a few discussions have arisen about this very subject between the 2 forums, unless POW purposly limit the number per person and numbers available, as only make another 100 of each available to the ghetto, with the last 250 of each print going up for sale through the website. Only speculation though, will know nothing until POW spill the beans.

Am I being thick? , by victorwilliams on Oct 9, 2006 16:57:35 GMT 1, When I brought my Micallef they told me they will be limited to two per person, anyone told trying to buy more in anyway will be banned from using POW.
But saying that, if they release them in NY first there would still be enough people there for them to be gobbled up.
Just have to wait and see i guess.

Am I being thick? , by mido on Oct 9, 2006 20:25:12 GMT 1, not quite. No print has ever yet been limited to 1 per customer, but POW do now have an ordering system that can allow them to limit the amount of prints you can buy. several prints have been limited so far to 2 per customers. Other remain unlimited.

I'm guessing it'll be online... eventually. The frustrating part is knowing when it'll be available. During the LA show, only about 1/5 of each available print was sold, and till today there is no word on when the remaining 4/5 will be made available. In fact, less than 100 of each print was sold in LA. I know because I snuck a peek at the list the lady at the counter was checking off. They said that 100 of each print was sold, but on the second day when they stopped selling prints, I only counted 80-90 checks.
Although, does anyone think the remaining prints from the LA show will be the ones on sale at Santa's Ghetto? December is so close to Banksy's LA show in September... is there even enough time to produce new prints?
Let's not also forget that Santa's Ghetto is hardly a Banksy-only event, and should be considered if you're pondering whether or not to fly over the pond. Personally, I'm looking forward to new works from several other artists.

Am I being thick? , by matilda on Oct 9, 2006 20:50:25 GMT 1, thugs, over on the other side has stated VERY clearly that santas ghetto WILL NOT be in NY this year and indeed may not happen AT ALL and he knows. He also said a while ago that the "la" prints will be available over here through Pow. Again HE KNOWS! I imagine that everyone is waiting for things to cool down; they have got overheated and there is a feeding frenzy on..not a pretty sight; I would not want to be sat selling any Banksy new prints anytime soon. Too much of a mob. We will have to be patient, we will get our chance I'm sure.

Like people have said, I think it depends if they can find a space to have in in NewYork at Xmas I should imagine that empty shops at christmas in NewYork are pretty hard to come by I think it will end up in London again Well, lets hope ;D

Am I being thick? , by Ågent ßacardi on Oct 9, 2006 21:28:29 GMT 1, Thanks for the clarification, Foundation
I agree that it would be good if Santa's Ghetto didn't happen this year, 'cos everything's truly overheated at the moment. With all the recent publicity that Banksy got in the US, Santa's Ghetto would be simply ghastly. But then again, the Ghetto isn't a Banksy-only show - there's plenty other artists involved, and to call it off because of Banksy just doesn't seem right.

On prints he's fallible just like the rest.
The only way to guarantee a print 100% is to know it's history of sale, have a receipt and/or full provenance. Thugs, like Tom Tom are NOT qualified to do this for you.
'Thugs said it was/wasn't real', won't get you very far in the future.

you could be right this from Artofthestate.co.uk blog
"Think London, Melbourne or New York is the capital of street art? Well just recently Stavanger, Norway laid seroius claims to that title. As part of numusic Eelus, Dface, Nick Walker, Word to Mother and more came to the town and hit it up hard by the look of Numusic's Flickr photostream. There's a mass of quality work there including Norways very own Dolk. Check out nuart too...." ;D ;D ;D

Am I being thick? , by mido on Oct 10, 2006 12:39:08 GMT 1, quite a few of us do buy prints from POW and do have a chat with them etc.
It seems like so long ago (it wasn't actually, 3 months or so) but one reason they totally revamped their website was so they could have a 'live' ordering system - i.e. it won't let a customer order once it is sold out. It solved the problem of too many copies being 'sold' (e.g. over night when no-one was in the office to put the 'sold out' sign up). The idea was also that they can limit the amount of copies you can buy of certain products. As an example you might notice that you can currently buy 5 Faile mermaid prints, but only 2 of Eine's monster.....
They seem very busy at the moment so don't want to hassle them with loads of questions, but a fair assumption would be that any banksy prints would strictly limited per customer!
