Yeah but the collectors are the ones that are going to pay the price after the speculators are long gone. The Speculators (i.e. investors) in the housing market for example did pretty well. It's the people that bought there homes to live in and enjoy that are now getting screwed with interest rates and foreclosures. Don't let this happen to you.
And I don't think hype is only appliled to artists other than Banksy. I think the Banksy hype has lead the road for all of the hype. And I know his prices have risen for 2 years now. But only this year did they spike so absurdly and exponentially high and well beyond what is in the range of normal for living artists and prints in such huge editions.
Buyer beware.
