What made you buy your top 5 prints?, by Moron on Apr 14, 2008 22:03:26 GMT 1, Hey everyone
I was just reading the Regret thread and there have been some "mind boggles" posts. I was just thinking what are your top 5 prints are, why do you love a particular piece and why wouldn't part with it for the world?
At the moment I have four prints.
Gee Vaucher "Our Father", but think I probably bought it more for a potential long term small investment - may be a bad move though.
3D - "Four Noble Truths", bought to be sold - now the more I look at it - the more I like it.
Titifreak - "Waiting", purely for my wall - I reallly love this one. Won't sell this. I love the African(ish) feel.
David Choe - "Silent Dance", still undecided - I am a believer of having something that creates a great talking point. In this one I like the 'almost' hidden murderous scene. I really want to see the print in the flesh first before I decide if it's 100% fit for the wall.
Whats your reason for buying your top 5 prints/original?

What made you buy your top 5 prints?, by slowmo on Apr 14, 2008 22:31:44 GMT 1, 1. Barcode, bought for me for Christmas by my wife 2. Weston Super mare, my mum and dad didn't know what to buy my wife, I suggested this print as she liked it and it was only ยฃ45 3. Dan Baldwin, Apocolypse wow end of everything, saw it at London art fair and had to have it. 4. Faile Captivating POW, bought a long time ago, just a real beauty of an image, again christmas involved, bought by step parents as a christmas present a few years back 5. Hewlett, the kid. Cost ยฃ100 framed from a shop in Greenwich, was the first limited edition print we ever bought. Really had to think about it at the time (had posters of things like lichtenstein, Hopper, Munch around the house and this just looked so fresh)

What made you buy your top 5 prints?, by skelly on Apr 14, 2008 22:43:30 GMT 1, New to collecting here they are:
Banksy - Stop and Search, I was interested in a Banksy and at the time 3000USD for the image/edition size seemed like it would be a great deal in the future
Bast - Mickey, I was interested in buying a hand finished print and this one looked great
Insect - Who to Believe, I really liked the image since the first time I saw it
Miss Bugs - Dumbo, I have missed out on previous releases by Miss Bugs, can't wait to see this one in the flesh
Jamie Reid - Young Flesh Required, my favorite Jamie Reid, managed to get a good price on this one quite a while ago.
This summer I plan on purchasing a large Faile, that will definitely be added to the list under the Banksy

What made you buy your top 5 prints?, by Phil Midds on Apr 15, 2008 9:15:43 GMT 1, Banksy - Laugh Now ... iconic, classic street art image with a message that always raises a few comments, opinions and smiles when people see it. Plus it goes perfectly with the general decor in my living room
Faile - Get Acquainted (beigey coloured one direct from Faile) ... can't help but smile when you look at what the 2 little budda's are doing in the girls arms. Complements the colour of the Laugh Now and my living room very well
Nick Walker - Mona Shot (Black and White) ... Cool as f**k, what more can I say ... the Mona Lisa pointing a gun at you with that famous 'smile' on her face
Pure Evil - Manuscript Bunny Head (in black) ... Simple, street art tag full of character from a fellow Forum member! Plus, although it's a bunny it doesn't half look like my pet cat - same head/ear proportions and evil expression!
Micallef - GIWTBB ... bought it because it's completely different in style to the other 4 above, I love the whole good against evil thing going on in the actual image itself and it goes perfectly with the style of my Victorian style bathroom!
At the end of the day the art you buy has to go well with all your other stuff doesn't it???

For me: Nick Walker - Vandal triptych - like a good old cartoon.

What made you buy your top 5 prints?, by woodsman on Apr 15, 2008 11:41:18 GMT 1, Good thread.. 1. Banksy Tesco Soup Can - i remember mooching on the POW site for months trying to make my mind up which colour way i wanted. went for the original colour way unsigned print in the end. First Bansky and still one of his strongest images IMO 2. Hewlett - The Hick - Brilliant image, dark and disturbing. Cant understand why he isn't more popular on these pages? My first print. 3. Lucy Mac - Peepers. - Purchased with my girlfriend from Lucy herself at Beat13. I love Lucy. 4. Banksy - Applause - Was this the first post LA POW print? Anyway i managed to snag one of these at about 5pm on the day of release, cant imagine that happening nowadays! Fantastic image, a change of direction and f**king massive! 5. Matt Small - 'This Is England' Catalog - Best ยฃ45 i ever spent.

What made you buy your top 5 prints?, by jonpud on Apr 15, 2008 11:43:24 GMT 1, So we are talking prints, not originals!
1. Micallef - 21st Cntuary Love - Needs no explanation - f**king stunning! 2. Banksy - Weston Super Mare - Not everyone's favorite Banksy, but I love it so that's all that matters. 3. Jamie Reid - Pretty Vacant (Silver & Orange) - Would look good in anyones home, regardless of style! 4. Banksy - Because I'm Worthless - Bought it as I was going through a serious depression and it summed up how I felt. 5.
