Want: David Choe City Girl (150) for $1200 or ?!?!, by finsburyparkranger on Jul 26, 2007 13:17:21 GMT 1, I didnt get to see the original but I do have the 150 giclee and its waaaay up there in quality. Image wise and print execution wise.. Agree. Andrew from Outer Edge did an incredible job with this print. The execution, from paper to color-matching to clarity/detail, is top quality. 'City Girl' was a stunning, jaw-dropping original. 'City Girl'(150) does it justice.
You got the original mose?

Want: David Choe City Girl (150) for $1200 or ?!?!, by a4mnt on Jul 26, 2007 20:36:16 GMT 1, Wondering what you could get trades wise for a City Girl? Anyone want to swap me a Micallef
I'll give you a pair of angel bombers. You give me City Girl plus Β£3750
I had a better look at City Girl at Found and am really taken by the 76 edition now (the one I own). 150 is square as well isn't it? I'm not so keen on that. I've got a fair idea what is after City Girl as its one of two prints and they both rock. I'll be after a 150, but not at Β£800.

I kinda like square prints. Appeals to my sense of symmetry

If the damage is really minimal, I suppose it might not be worth the effort - hope all turns out alright whatever you do.....!

Want: David Choe City Girl (150) for $1200 or ?!?!, by brainthedog on Jul 27, 2007 17:19:20 GMT 1, I wonder what the City Girl ed.76 would be worth on the secondary market.... Wouldn't have minded getting one of those but the way things are going, theres' no chance I doubt the city girl 76 will ever be worth much more than the 150. City girl 150 is his most celebrated piece. I would imagine this time next year we will look at Β£820 as a steal. Hound dogz are hand touched up too and nicer than city girl 76 IMO but i bet we see people wanting to swap them for a city girl 150. Saying that, don't listen to me, I thought Baldwin was a winner.
I see where you're coming from, but at the same time 76 is pretty close to being an original as David painted each one himself. Although being a smaller release helps. My vote is that 76 is worth more than 150. There's one being sold (76) in the states so let's see how that ends up.

I completely agree with Aza here. CG 150 is one of my favourite pieces of art I ever have seen. Frankie had it on the wall at Found. Mesmerizing. Certainly the best of this year by far. Sadly, I just missed out on it's release.

Want: David Choe City Girl (150) for $1200 or ?!?!, by a4mnt on Jul 27, 2007 23:12:32 GMT 1, Exactly, Β£1300 for the hand embellished version compared to the Β£820 for the 150.....I know i'm glad to own the 76, not because is worth more, thats immaterial, but because David Choe has handpainted it........150 is no comparison as far as i'm concerned, plus i like the more simple version, its kinda like the difference between analogue and digital synths....analogue all the way baby....... ;D
ps - i would gladly have the 150, its a wonderful piece, but deciding between the two...... now i've seen them both, i'm glad to be a part of the 76 club, the fact that they are all different makes it even more interesting to see other peoples.....

Want: David Choe City Girl (150) for $1200 or ?!?!, by tadghostal on Jul 28, 2007 0:01:05 GMT 1, This is absolutely one of those "buy what you like" situations. Different folks are going to see different aspect as more or less appealing. For example, do I care if an artist has hand embellished a print? That all depends on whether or not that embellishment enhances the image. If its superficial, or worse--a contrived gimmick where the artist really hasn't put much thought into the embellishments--then I'm disinclined to see it as more desirable than something without it. Flip side might be, is a giclee too detached from the artist?
As far as Choe goes, the guy has many, many different styles. I see prints like "City Girl" 76 and "Hell Houndz" as prints of embellished drawings, and prints like "Pull My Scarf" and "City Girl" 150 as prints of fine art paintings/pieces. Its amazing to me that the two "City Girl" prints are even compared to each other. Its unfortunate that they share a name, because frankly, they're nothing alike and I get nothing out of comparing the two. Less so from comparing sales data, particularly when it is so sparse (one of each tells us nothing).
In the end, it comes down to which is more appealing to you. And ultimately, that is a very personal decision.
