Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by closeencounters on Apr 10, 2010 12:54:50 GMT 1, looks like a great show, gonna drop by later today if i'm in the area - loving that Meggs canvas! shame the evening was marred by the events that kicked off towards the end of the night, hope no one was seriously hurt and the issues get resolved so that future events can go ahead without similar incidents occuring.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by ginx on Apr 10, 2010 13:05:10 GMT 1, The police have asked us to say if anybody witnessed the incident that happened outside of 50 Redchurch Street on April 8th can the call the Serious Crime Unit on 02072754538 and speak to either DC Ahern or DS Tunstall. Alternatively if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and if you can quote the crime reference number 4208433/10 This was a serious assault but the police have told us that nobody has lost their sight as a result of the attack they have also asked us to stress that they are not linking the gang attack to the mosque.
I can confirm that two people will be undergoing facial surgery on Monday. Both have had thcue cheek bone boken and both have heavy bruising behind the the eye. One has also had his nose broken and the small bone behind the eye broken. The other has a huge scar down his face. Both have been informed by the doctors that they may always experience blurred and or double vision. Both Injuries were caused by bottles thrown. How much sight people have lost really should not be a cause of dispute. The realisty is two people currently are partially sighted because they were standing at the wrong place at the wrong time and are fully aware that their injured eye's may never heal properly again.
Please could the gallery and promotors please post a request for people to come forward on their web sites if not done already.

I think it would be wise of Silky to send out an email to all members as there are probably a few people who were there on the mailing list who may not have checked the site...it would be far more constructive than trying to change the subject to whats words people use to describe shoes (by the way, Creps is also used, silky....)

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by bozboz on Apr 10, 2010 21:03:41 GMT 1, I saw the whole incident from the beginning to end, no one urinated against the wall thats for sure..
They rolled up 15-20 strong and started pushing people and shouting. They took offence to people drinking in the street, said we were disrespecting Islam but they were looking for trouble and terrorising people from the start. One guy went up to a girl next to us and told her if she didnt get the f*ck away he'd stick his c*ock in her mouth. Doub't he read that in the Koran. This kind of thing went on for at least 10 minutes before the real trouble broke out. They even left and came back about 15 minutes later, with bottles and god knows what else in hindsight. One of them was filming himself terrorising the crowd on his iPhone.
I don't think anyone realised how messed up those guys were when they showed up, their faces will be burned in my brain for a long time.
Never thought I would witness something like this first hand, very screwed up people, it could have been any of us in hospital and was completely unprovoked. Thoughts going out to those that were injured.
Huge shame that it spoiled what was such a great night with some great art and a lot of effort from the gallery and artists. Dan Baldwin and Goldie's definately worth a mention.
Hopefully it won't ruin the show and the guys get brought to justice..

I've checked the zero cool site and kicks for canvas sight and I can't see any mention of the incident. It is three days after the event and you have directly been asked by the police to encourage people to come forward. Perhaps you have both sent out an email to your subscribers instead? Or perhaps I've overlooked something? It is really important to act quickly, peoples memories fade. My original request was clearly designated as 'urgent' on this forum, many posts ago and I am acting on the request of victims friends and family. At this stage a web notice and a mail out if not done already might still make all the difference. The incident was a long running, loud affair With many bottles raining down on and outide your front window which your security team witnessed from begining to end and everyone in your gallery and outside at the time witnessed. Your assistance is key.
www.kicksncanvas.co.uk/ (link to zero cool available from here also)
Sincere aplogies if all appeopriate action has already been taken and this is my oversight, only seeing things on my iPhone and sometimes easy to miss things on a small screen.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by curiousgeorge on Apr 11, 2010 18:39:34 GMT 1, In my experience Galleries are all to happy to relieve people of cash, but when things go horribly wrong they distance themselves totally
I would say the silence speaks volumes, after they told everyone to get out putting those people directly in danger
All about the money!

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by PUD on Apr 12, 2010 11:21:59 GMT 1, My thoughts go out to those injured, I hope those responsible are brought to justice, although knowing this country I very much doubt they will!
I would like to say more but no doubt my point of view would be misconstrued, suffice to say that I am comfortable and happy living in my country alongside all genders, sexual orientations, races and religious beleifs, but I have no time for violence of any nature especially when 'justified' under the flag of religion. Respect and trust would be restored greatly in this country if members of certain communities dealt with these situations swiftly and practiced the peace that they preach.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by Zero Cool on Apr 12, 2010 12:17:21 GMT 1, We have changed the name of the thread to something more appropriate and will start a new thread for people who want to discuss the show so that this thread stays on point.
We have had meetings with the police and local community centre and we are working with them both to try and get the people involved brought to justice. We have been told by the police not to discuss any details as it could effect any future prosecution and nobody wants to see that to happen.
If we can ask again that anyone who witnessed the incident contacts the Serious Crime Unit on 020 7275 4538 and speak to either DC Ahern or DS Tunstall who are the investigating officers.
Alternatively if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting the crime reference number 4208433/10.

Could Zero cool confirm that they will be sending out an email to its members and that the kicks and canvas promotors will also be doing a mail out to encourage people with evidence to take it to the police ?
May i remind everyone it is essential that they take their evidence to the police. Please contact the Serious Crime Unit on 020 7275 4538 and speak to either DC Ahern or DS Tunstall who are the investigating officers.
Alternatively if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting the crime reference number 4208433/10.
I wish i could talk more about what happened on the day itself from what I've been told and witnessed personally. It seems that there was also serious errors made by those that should have been protecting the public ... However as there is a danger of tainting the court case (or blurring the issue) I'll refrain from discussing anymore. Please take your concerns to the police about anything that caused you harm or put you in danger on the night in question.
May I also remind people that as it stands this case probably wont be taken to court as it stands (from the police's own admission) because of lack of hard evidence. Therefore if anyone knows anyone who was taking pictures of the incident please encourage them to step forward. We need film footage or as many witness's as possible at this stage more than anything else.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by curiousgeorge on Apr 12, 2010 19:15:03 GMT 1, For the 3rd time of asking why were people asked to leave the building and placed in obvious danger?
Kin amateurs
Sorry for those having to read my rants 3 times but in all honesty it's not an out of line question. Though i guess the truth would make them look like a bunch of tossers with no regard for anyone but themselves.Without paying punters you would have nothing at all, and you thank them by telling them all to leave.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by Daniel Silk on Apr 12, 2010 19:38:35 GMT 1, Some of the posts on this thread might be of good intent, but could actually be doing more harm than good The whole point surely is to encourage people who were at the event, and who might have useful information to feel comfortable to come forward and contact the Police. The impression I am getting so far is people who were not even there, are on a bit of a witch hunt maybe I'm wrong.

Do you think it's unreasonable to ask why paying customers(without which you wouldn't have a forum, zero cool would not exist) were thrown out onto the streets directly into danger?
Is that really unreasonable?
Would you feel different if you attended and ended up on the street with mrs silky, and god forbid one of you got a bottle in the face?
Witch hunt, yeah ok i will roll with that

Yes, but I'm not quite sure what you're getting at as I don't see anything here that might make witnesses feel uncomfortable about doing that. What posts in this thread do you think might put people with useful info off from doing the right thing and why?

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by Graffiti Prints on Apr 12, 2010 20:40:37 GMT 1, from what i was told the event had just finished it was 9 pm and everyone was hanging round outside, when it all kicked off the doors were opened and people went back into the gallery and then bottles etc were thrown at the windows, then the police came.
i understand silkys post there has been a serious offense and anything that could fu*k that up written here would be sad, zerocool and sole heaven need help with witnesses and people who must have had a camera etc and caught something that would help. its not there fault this happened or are you saying it is?
emails will be sent I'm sure, but maybe they have to run them by the police first? I'm sure ants busy and had a nightmare and I'm not sure some comments help the whole thing.
i do think a e mail from the forum would help if it was brief and just stating the event, time etc, maybe the police could help if your worried about the case silky.
i bet ant is stressed as hell as he loves art and does do it for the right reasons. every time i see him i think that i just hope he does not take all the comments personally.
if you read this ant i hope this has not ruined the event for you. yes i know ant well from the toon but i can not hold back any longer.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by ginx on Apr 12, 2010 21:36:48 GMT 1, Could I suggest that people that were there are careful with what they say and that people that were not there please say less regarding what did or did not happen. Anthony and I Spoke on Sunday and he confirmed he was going to email subscribers and he was going to encourage 'kicks and canvas' to do so also and said he will confirm this online today and that's why I asked. The police have asked everyone to pass on info of how to contact them and there is no issue about emailing people to inform them there was a serious incident and how to contact the police, rather it is the responsible thing to do.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by gwenie on Apr 12, 2010 21:42:46 GMT 1, Would be a good idea if everyone could now stick to the new name of this thread.
If you have ANY information, PLEASE contact one of the numbers posted on this forum. It doesn't matter how small the information is, it is important that people keep this investigation going. Sometimes the police are far too quick to close a case, esp if they feel there is little chance of catching the perpetrators, or gaining a conviction.
If you were there, even inside and couldn't see very much, that maybe equally as important.
I am very pleased there is a new thread concerning just the works of the Artists, as obviously, they worked hard to produce the show. Each individual Artist I have contacted directly has shown sincere concern about this dreadful situation.
PLEASE any info, contact one of the numbers posted.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by cambodia on Apr 12, 2010 23:55:52 GMT 1, i have just read this, and am horrified that as quite a few people have said ,zero cool would not allow their guests back into the gallery when this was occuring on the street regardless of whatever the original closing time was you wouldnt push people out into obvious danger ,and whoever was taking care of security was obviously not doing their job properly which is not only the protection of the venue but also the guests , i agree with curiousgeorge that zero cool should answer these points , my sympathies go to the people who got injured attending this event

wow its amazing that people who wernt their feel its ok to come on forums and just make stuff up regarding a very serious attack.
The attatck kicked off when the doors were closing and everybody was leaving the gallery. As soon as it started the security tryed to get everybody back indoors to safety. One of the security had a scuffle with one of the attckers, then everybody was asked to leave when the police turned up apart from those who needed to give statements. They did a great job considering the out of the bule unprevoked attack that nobody could have predicted.
Please if you have any real evidance, contact the serious crimes unit, but people who wernt their making stuff up coud be very damaging to any future case.

Appeal for Witnesses - April 8th - Redchurch St, by gwenie on Apr 13, 2010 21:24:48 GMT 1, Just caught up with this sorry affair, my sympathies go out to all involved in this horrific attack, and i hope all make a speedy recovery. Silky can you make this a sticky thread and email members asking for witneses of the attack to report to the police.
A reasonable request

It must be over 99% of people who visit this forum were not even there! so sticky would be pointless.
