VIDEO OF THE DAY..., by randomname on Oct 22, 2015 18:06:03 GMT 1, I just stumbled across this. Apparently, there was a fourth original Star Wars movie. A made-for-TV holiday special. It's fucking terrible, btw.

Edit: Interestingly though (...zzzzz), it does feature the first appearance of Boba Fett.

VIDEO OF THE DAY..., by Sacked... on Nov 4, 2015 13:39:33 GMT 1, Watching Alberto Giacometti paint a portrait of Ernst Scheidegger, a Swiss photographer, in 1966 is an eye-opener. We see how carefully and precisely he builds up the geometric structure of a face. What caught my attention, though, not knowing German, was the English transcript of the dialogue. In it the narrator, no doubt borrowing from the artist's own explanation, perfectly describes the portrait process as the artist's own face fused with the sitter's! The narrator is said to describe Giacometti's almost-mystical sense of the portrait process. "A face appears on the canvas which is his own face but also that of another, distant person who will appear out of the depth if only you reach out for him. But as you do reach out the person recedes, remaining just beyond your grasp."

Nice video clip and thank you for posting. Hadn't seen it before, despite Giacometti being one of my favourite artists.
I'm actually more fond of his drawings and paintings than I am of the sculptures he's better known for. That's especially the case with those works on canvas or paper where his foundational or structural lines remain visible. For me, they bring to mind architectural sketches, which I love in the context of portraiture.
