Your latest Art Purchase?, by Coach on Dec 4, 2015 19:51:47 GMT 1, Every now and again I am reminded that there are some really good people on here. A little while ago I sent a load of stickers that I picked up at Dismaland to members all over the world. As a complete and very pleasant suprise I received this flyer (which I didn't already have) in the post with a Xmas card and lovely message.
It came from a long way away. I am delighted to receive it. I know the senders real name, but can't remember their forum name (I sent quite a lot out!). Could the sender please get in touch by pm so I can say thank you properly.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Viking Surfer on Dec 5, 2015 20:19:40 GMT 1, I just acquired a pretty cool piece, mainly due its history.
Itโs Invader from Jan 2001 (3 years into the Space Invaders project).
It was sent to Mike Maxwell (Shepard Faireys assistant for many years -and also a stellar artist in his own right, check out his work). Itโs an Albinoโs kit, from what would have been the first 150 he ever made (he only started numbering them from 150 - 350).
It was sent with a Map and 3 sticker sets. The Map had a personal drawing and was dedicated to โTo Mike, Salutations from Paris, Enjoy Invading, 2001โ.
I have the package it was sent in too which was written out by Invader and what I would consider would have been his home or studio address on the back (it was before he really took off).
I think its quite unique as it was a gift from one artist to another and is essentially an early prototype for what was to become his Invading kits. As it wasnโt sold either, I also presume it was part of the first few kits he made that were just sent out to other artists and friends.
Photos below.
Package it came in:
Sticker set:
Albino:
Map with dedication:
And the full set:

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Viking Surfer on Dec 5, 2015 21:10:50 GMT 1, NICE!!! can't wait to see how you frame / mount it
Yeah now that going to be the great debate!!
I loved the way the outside light shone through the Albino eyes too, so now I have to think of a way to possibly incorporate that into the mix as well.

Got to say that framing looks stunning, really show it off and you certainly did waste much time.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by treweman on Dec 5, 2015 22:22:19 GMT 1, Finally made it across the pond and to my front door. Seemed to get caught in customs forever, but worth the wait. It's small, but powerful. At the very least, it scratches my itch for a Stik - for a while anyway. Will post photos after it makes a scheduled stop at the framers. Thanks 11 ...

Right! You can't do this! Again! So much lovely art!!!
Would like to know artists names mate. Especially the top one. And the second to last. But all of them really.
Edit I think I know one of them. An artist we both like!

Your latest Art Purchase?, by met on Dec 5, 2015 22:34:17 GMT 1, I just acquired a pretty cool piece, mainly due its history. [...] Bearing in mind the very obvious potential sensitivity here, I assume the original giftee is happy with details and photos of the gift being posted on a public message board visited by thousands each day.
If that assumption is correct (and I'm 95% sure it must be), then great, and congratulations to you on a wonderful acquisition.
But, if not, then the giftee would surely expect greater discretion โ especially if he hasn't told the giftor that a personal and dedicated gift from 15 years ago was suddenly being offloaded.

Your latest Art Purchase?, by Harveyn on Dec 5, 2015 22:41:31 GMT 1, Thanks Coach.
The lovely Gill Button at number 1 which is my second work by her (see below). I just love her work and it reminds so much of one of my all time favourites Brian Calvin. Check both artists out but be aware that Brian's work is a tad expensive.
Number 2 & 4 is by Danish Royal Academy artist Frederik Nรฆblerรธd whom I just love in terms of the raw energy of his work.
Number three is by our own artist BRAM whom I have a number of works by. His work just gets stronger and stronger.

It was in a collection for over 10 years and sold due to some hard times and to fund surgery for a pet, something I was more than happy to help with.

Yeah, I guessed the third was Bram (see the edit to my post). It's a fab example of his work. Not familiar with Gill Button. Like both that you have posted very much. I can't afford at the moment, but can you pm how I might pick up her work for when I can (I know i could google, before anyone points this out, but advice is always better!). Smashing additions H. Have you got the wall space?!

Congratulations on a great new addition to your collection, and bravo to both you and 11 and Stik for the charity donation.

Hecox is a legend. I'm not sure what to make if this, if I may say so. Not what I'm used to. I have a suspicion that well framed this will look very good. But I hesitate to say so. I hope you don't mind.

Have just finished chatting with my son about this image. We have both agreed that this is good. Very. It's brutal. But that's it's beauty. It will grow on you more and more. I'm convinced of it. I'm a sucker for a chunky box frame. White I think. Is this a one off or a print? Very unusual piece. Thanks for sharing.

Can't beat a delivery from the framer. It's been a long time since I've had a bulk delivery. But I know the unpacking thrill too well! List if artists would be good. Blu looks smashing!
