Show everyone your latest Art Purchase?, by mrizzle on Oct 13, 2021 17:22:30 GMT 1, I hope this doesn’t bore anyone reading it buuuuut a few years back I set myself the ambition to own an original piece by one of my absolute favourite artists, the incredibly talented Nuno Viegas. Today that ambition was realised when this piece arrived from his recent show in Portugal at Crack Kids in Lisbon.
This piece holds some special symbolism for me and was, in part, why I knew this had to by my first original Nuno Viegas piece. My home city is widely known as ‘The Granite City’ with many of the traditional buildings in the city built from granite taken from the local quarry. Now disused, the local quarry was at one time the biggest in Europe. Entitled ‘Granite Rock’ and picking out beautifully the way that Granite plays in the light, this piece just felt like it was destined for me and I cannot tell you how blown away I am by it in person. Genuinely cannot understand how a person can paint like this. Wow Nuno…just wow!
As a leveller though, I did just receive a text from my brother who clearly saw my post on Instagram. The text reads, “Did you really just buy a picture of a rock?!” 😆

@phlegyas, haha. Very good. 👏

Great story and I’m glad you were able to get your dream piece! Believe it or not, I told myself the same last year in regards to Nuno’s crowns. Currently settled for a print but plan to get an original very soon!

This gallery are now representing Hama Woods and Martin Whatson plus other artists for their ‘original’ works. You can imagine how rare it is to get originals direct from source so really appreciate them helping out a genuine collector from the UK. Thanks guys

1. Small sketch the great Ellsworth Kelly drew for me (signed upper right), across 2 pages in my pocket sketch book.
2. Marker sketch on magazine page by Keith Haring, also hand-signed. (KH Provenance is tight, and comes with full PSA/DNA LOA, which is good enough for me and a few places I would consign to if ever needed.)
