Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by finlee on Jun 16, 2007 16:32:01 GMT 1, Posted by foundation on Dec 24, 2006, 3:19pm The CWS 2 weeks before went for 8K, but thats neither here nor there, If you wnt to talk investment the ebay forum does that well ( well enough to make things up if it doesnt know it at anyrate) . This forum was set up for like minded people to apreciate Banksy's work, not try to wonder if its a sound investment, things have changed recently, with alot more money talk, sadly this has ruined much of the pleasure in collecting and apreciating banksy prints when idiots see it as an investment rather than art, I for one hope the whole market goes tits up and we are all left with worthless yet very nice pieces of paper on our walls again rather than investments.
quoting foundation there, i'm totally disappointed that I cant buy a banksy print/art work due to people buying them and flogging them immediately on ebay for ridiculous prices. I love art and would be keen to own a print but the prices have made it totally unviable.

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by jam on Jun 30, 2007 18:40:19 GMT 1, This thread is for photos only for framed GRIN REAPER prints. Rather than spending all that time looking for examples of a this print framed up... you can see and post examples in this thread! This will allow everyone on the board to have a look at what other people have done with each print to see how different mats, frames, and mountings look for each individual print. This should be a good way to save time from searching all over, plus it will give you some nice ideas for your Banksy!
Feel free to add photos of your framed example in each of the appropriate threads, there is a "Framed" thread under each print listed in the 'Banksy Limited Edition Prints' section. To keep each thread manageable and on topic, please refrain from commenting. Also, remember to resize images that may be oversized so everyone can have a proper look at your framing work!

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by alfie on Jan 7, 2008 17:31:19 GMT 1, I am lucky enough to have an original of the grin reaper which was recovered from the back of a builders truck. The stencil was painted on to a building undergoing a refurb in late 2001. When the builders were taking down the boards the stencil was painted on i asked for it and they gave it to me. Now i would like to get some provenence for the piece and find a way of having it valued. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

For now think nothing of the value - it'll cloud your head somewhat. Contact Laz and they'll try to help you. Simply put they'll contact B and ascertain if, from what and how you've said, is valid / plausible etc and possibly after some arm twisting - provide you with prov - you will , im advised , have to wait though... there may be a large queue of people with bits and bobs from past / present with 'pieces'.
Good luck - and let us know how it goes - a photo of what you have would be apprec here

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by pelle on Jan 7, 2008 21:39:51 GMT 1, As bigman says, you are likely to get absolutely nothing out of contacting Laz. Street pieces are meant for the street and they'll not confirm authenticity nor evaluate the piece for you.
You could contact one of the big auction houses, as it seems that they have taken it upon themselves to authenticate some street pieces recently. Basically they know f**k all, though, but the insurance company will probably know even less and take their word (if that is your reason for wanting provenance).
Not saying that your piece is fake, by the way. Just that it's unlikely to ever get a stamp of authentication from Banksy or his official representatives.

Nope, you won't. But send us all a pic of it anyways.

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by zippyblip on Feb 7, 2007 21:42:21 GMT 1, hmm..... number 310 of 500 in the title description, then 255 of 300 in the text (there were only 300)......And no pics of the actual print really-that looks like a screen capture to me...... Previous sales of 2 tesco SIM cards for 99p each........and thats it.....
Guess I'm just getting conservative in my old age.

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by tomhills1 on Feb 7, 2007 21:46:04 GMT 1, weird, the main description says number 310/500 and in the listing description says 255/300. the small photo also says 255/300. not a lot else to go on except recent name change and only 2 feedback, no signature photo. could be a real bargain but i wouldn't part with nearly 2 grand to find out it's authenticity.

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by noodle on Feb 8, 2007 0:19:36 GMT 1, Totally agree folks.
Was tempted to put a bid in (been watching it since listed). But something not quite right. Watched the print until the last minute (with the wife-who said bid) and thought NO!
Change of ID (30 days ago??) and plus the 2x Tesco 99p sim card sales for a +2 feedback. As you've already mentioned.
Just not worth it for this household!

Banksy Grin Reaper Print, by dotdot on Feb 8, 2007 10:23:26 GMT 1, just a small (could be useful tip..)
if they're legit they can send you a recent high res photo.
then view the exif data of said photo.
if they're ok it'll be pretty easy to confirm via the dates etc on the photo. if they'd gone to the trouble of changing the meta data therein.. well they'd be sharp.
most scammers are not that sharp. ( not unless they're 491'ers)
alas - ebay in their misinformed wisdom - strip this data from photos if you use webhosting....
-- we should come up with a list of things to check for verification / and act accordingly with ebay for people we believe to be FAKE.
