Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by coller on Sept 4, 2020 15:29:57 GMT 1, comparing the tate ward result to an auction result on 1stdibs about 2 years prior is hardly a good comparison either lol
the irony is ppl are probably devaluing their banksquiats by doing stuff like this, because it makes it abundantly clear no one is willing to trade these types of prints for a banksquiat
banksquiat owners: just be happy with your banksquiat. that's really not a lot to ask. the fact that so many banksquiat owners are already trying to trade it for other prints speaks to how much they actually like the banksquiat image ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Tate Ward Banksquiat after all fees came out to $167k, hardly a good comparison IMO. fill yer boots !

I haven't seen anybody else even offer theirs up. Mine is framed on the wall where it will remain for years to come, so I am happy, thank you.
LIITA was the print in question, and that's the most recent sale that I could find. Is it a perfect comparison? absolutely not. But one sold for more than double the other, so I don't think it's a stretch to refute the claim that "an unsigned is probably a better comparison"

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by coller on Sept 4, 2020 15:45:39 GMT 1, have been several threads, was one trying to trade for a kate just the other day.
using 2 year old auction results makes no sense because according to everyone on this forum banksy pieces have tripled in value since 2 years ago. so something selling for half the price of a banksquiat 2 years ago is completely irrelevant and a bad faith comparison. really, using the tate ward banksquiat result as a metric for anything is a bad faith comparison.
given that you have gone the italics/bold/underlining route i'm going to excuse myself from this thread. enjoy your banksquiat.

2 years ago before fees... the first ever a week ago, after fees
I guess it’s not a proper comparison
But if a signed LIITA owner is now drunk and reading this, and disagree with my opinion, please dm me

you're going to excuse yourself because I highlighted the absurdity of your statement? ok lol.
for starters, 1stDibs is not an auction platform. secondly, we don't know the exact date of sale, it's a maximum of 2 years ago based on COA info provided. and finally "according to everyone" and "tripled" are pretty bold claims not backed by anything. talk about bad faith...

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by saint on Sept 4, 2020 16:15:06 GMT 1, THE original?? Bit much imo. Ok who is then? Is that an honest question? Or whatever I answer will you tell me I'm wrong and its Basquiat?
In honesty, I don't know who THE ORIGINAL STREET ART LEGEND is, and I would struggle to decide, I'm quite amazed you can do so so unequivocally. You easily brushed aside Haring, Quinones and Fab 5 Freddy to name a few.... All legends imo.

Haring is amazing, but Samo was active before him so I'd more easily attribute the "original" portion of the title to him. and the entire world knows who Samo is, where as maybe 1% know Lee Quiñones or Fab 5, so it's pretty easy for me to attribute the "legend" title to him.

Using your argument, quinones came first, ergo the original. And I would say Haring is better known, so would take the legend title.
It’s semantics really, I just don’t agree with you, but no worries!
Enjoy the print!

As a quick fact check, Taki183 brought New York City's graffiti to the forefront after being profiled in the New York Times in 1971, well before Basquiat and Haring.
Perhaps you could say that Haring, Basquiat, or both of them were pioneers in the commercialization of graffiti but to say they are the original legends diminishes the work of countless other names who are ignored simply because they didn't have the gallery representation and high society hype to commoditize their work.

Taki183 was active for a few years and then gave it all up and runs a mechanic shop (absolutely nothing wrong with that). But if he didn't care enough to continue his work, I'd have a hard time calling him a legend in the space.

Why not auction the Banksquiat and buy a LIITA? Seems that’s the best route if you believe values are equal.

assuming both are the same value of let say 100K:
If you sell the B you will receive 100K minus auction cost, so maybe 90-95K When then want to buy the LIITA you would have to bid 100K and then pay 130K

Was hinting at the difficulty of finding a Signed LIITA for the amount a Banksquiat would bring.

Banksy • Flower Thrower • Love is in the Air, by Lazarus II on Sept 19, 2020 17:42:20 GMT 1, Wow, some serious prices on there. A grappling hook for $800K, has one ever been sold publicly before? one was sold at auction about 12-18mths ago, irl1 or someone will know when and for how much but i recall it was lower than what most thought, below £100k including fees.
