I think JFCC makes a point, I think there was alot of pent up demand for Litta as so few came to the market in recent years but now the price has been established there is a risk things could get saturated. The Forum auciton result was £125k so around £160k with fees, if you're playing it safe an offer around £150k privately needs serious consideration. You may get more after the March auctions or if results come in below expectations you may not.

There's a lot of talk about how many actually exist but there are 2 on the private market at present and 1 at auction.

Does anyone have or have seen an unsigned LIITA with an edition number > 51 and <100?

Christies has that there were only 50 signed.  I know of another one signed that is numbered less than 50 (in addition to this auction).  So, if we can find an unsigned in between 51 and 100, that lends more proof to only 50 that were signed.

EDIT:  Also, if you know of a signed piece, can you post if the edition number is < or > 50.  If we get more datapoints of all signed being numbered < 50, that lends more proof.

Weren't the early prints signed as and when purchased rather thn in advance, so signed versions wouldn't be in sequencial blocks?

What a great print to own!! The value of LIITA have been fairly volatile over the past 24 months...understatement!!!

At auction they peaked at £510k (inc all fees and VAT) in April 2021, which took everyone by surprise, as had the AP that sold at £540k in December 2020.

Since then they have "normalised" and my view is if a signed LIITA was auctioned today it would make around the £225k mark (inc all fees and VAT) which would return to the seller about the hammer price of about £175k.

A private sale should probably get closer to £200k.

There have been more AP sales than anything else in the last 24 months and whilst I agree they are worth more than a regular print the market has been very much all over the place and I think is a little saturated for this print so I viewed the last 2 as oddities rather than the norm in the same way I disregarded the first of them.

I also think that a signed Flower Thrower (along with some others) does not belong in a Banksy only sale and should "step up a level" as it doesn't sit well against £30 unsigned prints. So to get decent auction price today you have to be very specific about the auction you want it to go in.

The last signed LIITA was auctioned at Cornette de Saint-Cyr and hammered £187k which cost the buyer £227k 

For the sake of completeness here are the actually all up prices of the last 3 APs

Dec 2021 Hessinks £345k All done inc fees and VAT - Hammer £270k

Feb 2022 Forum Auction £201k all done inc fees and VAT - Hammer £150k

Mar 2022 Sothebys £189k all done inc fees and VAT Hammer - £140k

The prices on the auction sites omit VAT which will be payable by the buyer (or an import tax equivalent)!!

APs fall into two camps IMHO. Firstly, there are those with variations to the main edition. These APs are, in some respects, more desirable. Secondly, you have APs that are no different to the main edition. These have a whiff of "surplus prints being knocked out for mates" about them. Personally, less desirable for me than the main edition.

Each to their own I guess but I really can't see the attraction in APs that don't have variations.

I wouldn't pay a premium for an AP over a signed LIITA but that's the last Signed LIITA at auction. £175k is still a big price, seller got £125k which is a little less than an unsigned GWB. I'd think that GWB is the most sought after print given the value it gets consistently fetches, then I would think LIITA is next in line.
