Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by speebe on Oct 27, 2010 15:14:03 GMT 1, So The Premises Studio in Hackney. They've a Roa rabbit painted on their premises. (I repeat - their premises - not a public wall.) They've been served a 14-day removal order, or Hackney Council will remove it themselves and then bill the Premises for the time. If they get a good number of signatures on their petition here: www.petitiononline.com/PremROA/petition-sign.htmlthis might make the Council rethink - gotta be worth 20 seconds of your time ;D thanks
I was No# 888.
I feel lucky and hope it helps?

Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by Pure Evil on Oct 28, 2010 6:36:37 GMT 1, So the article in its expanded form online says that it is 'As part of our enforcement policy, which is informed by Defra guidance'...
I looked into this : DEFRA : The DEPARTMENT OF FOOD AND RURAL AFFAIRS....they say
"Fly-posting and graffiti Fly-posting is the commercially driven defacement of the local environment through the display of advertisements pasted or attached to buildings, street furniture or other structures without the consent of the owner, contrary to the provisions of the Regulations (Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) Regulations 1992.
Fly-posting is illegal, and those responsible for it, or benefiting from it, can be prosecuted). The Department for Communities and Local Government has responsibility for this policy area.
Fly-Posting Action Group In September 2004 Defra set up a new Action Group on Fly-posting to help develop proposals for improved fly-posting legislation in the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Bill.
Graffiti Graffiti can spoil the enjoyment of the local environment and lead to a situation where crime and other anti-social behaviours can thrive.
This has a knock-on economic effect, as it is a burden on businesses and the local authorities that are left to clean up graffiti on property and public spaces.
If graffiti is not dealt with it can engender a negative perception of an area, including fostering a feeling that nobody cares about, or takes pride in their local environment. This stifles regeneration by acting as a barrier to economic investment and leads to further crime and anti-social behaviour.
Furhter information Guidance on Defacement (graffiti and fly-posting) (PDF 350 KB) Types of anti-social behaviour Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Bill. Flycapture - national fly-tipping database for vehicle registration details"
Heres a link to their guidelines... its really boring and will suck the soul out of you... I just looked at the nice pictures of graffiti... www.defra.gov.uk/environment/quality/local/legislation/cnea/documents/defacement.pdf
If You enjoyed that, and didnt have to gnaw off your own arm to make it through the crushing tedium , heres another one you are going to enjoy, the : drum roll :
"Graffiti Removal Notice Pilot Exercise - a Consultation Paper Chronic graffiti can lead to an area becoming more and more run-down, with a corresponding increase in crime and fear of crime. Untackled graffiti undermines faith in the services that authorities provide.
That is why Sections 48, 49, 50, 51 and 52 of the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 (βthe Actβ) enable a local authority to serve a βgraffiti removal noticeβ on the owners of street furniture, statutory undertakers and educational institutions whose property is defaced with graffiti. The notice requires the owners to remove the graffiti within 28 days. If the person responsible for the property fails to remove the graffiti, the local authority can intervene, clean up the graffiti and recover reasonable costs.
In response to concerns about the regulatory impact of these powers, we decided to pilot these powers before wider rollout."
and the PDF of their findings.. webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/documents/2004-cons-graffiti/2004-cons-responses-graffiti
Happy reading friends...

Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by wizzy on Oct 28, 2010 8:30:31 GMT 1, Defra is a pile of shyte. I contacted them firstly as i found some freshly cut off cattle ears in a country lane (it was when the cattle movement ban was on due to Foot and Mouth, woman there said she would look into it but nothng came of it, i even gave her the tags that were in the ears!, suspect its who knows who! Second time was when the Hunt was up here last year hunting with Hounds (not all old families in the sticks agree with it), same result, had to resort to sitting in Land Rover blaring horn all day to mess their day up (where are the Hunt Sabs when you need them???).

Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by Thinkspace on Oct 29, 2010 9:31:31 GMT 1, ROA is coming!!! by thinkspace_gallery, on Flickr
We're happy to announce that we will be presenting Belgian-born artist ROA's debut west coast solo show coming up on Sat, Nov. 13th. This will be a special pop-up event presented by Thinkspace and taking place at New Puppy Gallery just outside of downtown Los Angeles. ROA has been extremely busy of late having visited New York this past June for a show with Factory Fresh in Brooklyn and traveling all over Europe, the UK and Russia over the past several months. So far this summer he's put up amazing pieces at Nuart (Stavanger, Norway), Infart (Bassano del Grappa, Italy), Critica Urbana (Madrid, Spain), Secret Garden Festival (London, England), Popup! (Ancona, Italy) and Stroke.03 (Berlin, Germany). On top of that he did a special piece while in the UK that ended up on the cover of a recent issue of VNA.
ROA's organic animals, huge both in presentation and reputation, will soon take over the streets of LA as well as the walls of New Puppy Gallery, reminding the city's art lovers that there is indeed nature all around us, even in the middle of the City of Angels. His street work brings to mind the natural world before it was covered in skyscrapers and highways. His stark black and white illustrations are as much home on the walls of galleries as they are on the walls of abandoned factories. As the cities of the world continue to push nature further and further away... and closer and closer to extinction, ROA's work acts as an ardent cry to arms for us all to take action.
ROA's work has been exhibited in London, Berlin, Warsaw, Brooklyn, Amsterdam, and Paris and this show will mark his first solo show on the west coast of the States.
Check out ROA's Flickr here: www.flickr.com/photos/roagraffiti/
Also be sure to check out a nice set of ROA's work on the streets courtesy of Unurth here: www.unurth.com/index/filter/Roa
More details will be announced soon...

Roa π§πͺ Street Artist β’ Animals & Birds β’ Art For Sale, by Thinkspace on Oct 30, 2010 18:18:07 GMT 1, He's just been on a tear across the world I tell ya'. He's out to make this his biggest show yet. The space we have for him is just huge and already set up with proper gallery walls and lighting. He's energized with ideas and I can't wait for him to make it all his own over the next few weeks.
Will post some pics from today's progress later this evening...
