oh and there is a bit missing from the Austraila flag
in my opinion when doing bold graphic illustration like this everything has to be spot on......as other have said looks all a bit rushed. shame as they could of been nice

Tavar Zawacki πΊπΈ Above Street Art β’ Print Release, by Daniel Silk on Dec 1, 2010 16:19:53 GMT 1, Hmm. Not sure if the France special edition works too well. Looks like the Italian flag instead. Also the distorted proportions of the stars for the USA and Australia one makes it look a bit too much like a quick Illustrator/Photoshop job. Edit: that and if the flags weren't stretched. beat me to that one.
Yeah, I agree
They do look stretched and I think the whole idea of having the text spoils them in my opinion. Great idea could really have made great prints, but....
Square paper would also be my suggestion.

As much wrong as there are with these arrows I would say that one is minimal:
Edit: Fribhey beat me too it. I need to speed up I guess.

one of them jedi mind tricks methinks
next time I will wait for photoshop to load up rather than ms paint
and yes given how tweaked out the flags are and the wrong name on the Union Flag this is a bit trivial now its been looked at in Photoshop

Tavar Zawacki πΊπΈ Above Street Art β’ Print Release, by karengolden on Dec 1, 2010 19:39:18 GMT 1, Good job guys, wonderful examples and feedback. We are happy that we just sold out of the special edition and the normal edition (errors and tweaking included) are also selling great! Maybe those points you brought up are that something that makes people look at the flags or fonts closer? I'm really not sure but true you all do have valid points. Thanks for getting involved with your constructive critisism.

Tavar Zawacki πΊπΈ Above Street Art β’ Print Release, by karengolden on Dec 7, 2010 21:17:52 GMT 1, Above's RWB arrow flag series has had too many strange events! All of the members quickly pointed out that Above blew it with using the Union Jack flag instead of England's flag. I will agree with you members and say that this was strange for someone who should know better. I sifted thru a handful of angry and informative emails saying how weird it was he messed up, and what England's flag really looks like. Now this is where things take a turn and get even stranger. Yesterday we sold out of the "England" flag but the majority of sales where from people in England! Now I'll admit I'm not the smartest hen in the roost (sure all of you can agree) but I find very strange that despite Above's mistake that still people from England (who should know better than Above about their flag) continued to purchase this print?! The only thing I can think of with this is that with such an obvious error it actually makes the print maybe more unique? It's like buying a handbag form Dolce & Gabbana with Yves Saint Laurent logo's all over it. Sure the handbag is still the same but that obvious error makes it more unique. On a closing note I think if Above were to make any type of label error it should of been "United Snakes" instead of what it reads.

Tavar Zawacki πΊπΈ Above Street Art β’ Print Release, by karengolden on Dec 7, 2010 21:25:19 GMT 1, Thanks for all of your feedback on this print. I'm not sure if it was just collectors who purchased the special edition (paris, rome...etc) hand finish or just people that thought it was clever? Either way that edition sold out already and the normal edition is steady despite so many other releases going on this holiday season. I can tell you for sure that the guy in the photo is not Above. However on the E.B. forum they all think it's another screen printer and or this actor from a tv show that IMHO looks strikingly similar to the hitchhiker. Thanks again for being constructive in your feedback instead of opting out for easier less informative responses. Have a happy holidays everyone!

Tavar Zawacki πΊπΈ Above Street Art β’ Print Release, by karengolden on Feb 14, 2011 13:38:32 GMT 1, ABOVE: "Here today gone tomorrow" solo show in Sydney, Australia
Opening date: February 24th at 6pm-10pm
Location: Lo-Fi Gallery. 383 Bourke St. // Sydney, Australia
ARTIST STATEMENT:
The statement βHere today gone tomorrowβ has been ringing in my head like a fucking broken record with no DJ to stop it. The skipping record keeps playing over and over getting louder and louder with each new rotation. Recently Iβve been hit with a lot to say the least. Less than 3 months ago my older brother was killed in an accidental car crash at the young age of 32. Life can be beautifully fragile and amazingly raw. You never know when your number is going to be called. Youβre here today, then gone tomorrow. Iβve been consistently travelling the world and the theme βhere today gone tomorrowβ applies to how I have been living my lifestyle for the past 10 years. Itβs hard to say goodbye when travelling and even harder when you donβt even get the chance. I was deeply moved by the loss of my brother to make the new body of artworks that dealt with the fragility of life, death and how important it is to live each day to the fullest.
The new artworks all have a consistent interwoven theme reflecting the βhere today gone tomorrowβ statement. For the show I made large wooden arrows with the faces of popular culture figures that have also passed away too young and suddenly. They say βonly the good die youngβ and Iβll agree to that. Upon arrival to Sydney I quickly noticed the widely common street level promotion of music event posters. Each poster had a very large visible date and location for the respective event. Not only that but all of the posters were taped on top of each other around poles instead of normally glued on to each other thus making it very easy to re-use and peel off without any damage to the poster. I found it applicable and relative to the statement βhere today gone tomorrowβ being able to peel off literally 100βs of past events posters layers like that of an onion that would date as far back as 12-months ago. Unravelling each new layer was hyper exciting as I never knew what to expect other than a consistent reversing timeline of now expired moments in time.
The WORD/PLAY pieces in the show all speak about life, death, and optimistic ways of how to live everyday as full as you can. Iβm happy with the final visual aesthetic of the mash up of using the posters collage, colour, imagery, and the push and pull process of layering each piece to get to its final completed state. The foundation and aim of the show is not to be sad about death, nor fear it but on the contrary to be happy about life and the moments that make up each day of our lives. I hope you can attend the show and get a fun reminder about how wonderful life can be and to appreciate every moment as it comes. Cheers, Above. February 2011. Sydney, Australia.
Process photos of his show pieces.
More photos as I get them.

Or I could just like it because it has shades of Faile/Ben Frost/Nathan James.
