New Swoons on Paper Monster, by pelle on Dec 3, 2010 8:37:03 GMT 1, I have number 10 in my basket and I'm really torn! ยฃ2,000 I didn't plan to spend. What to do....? Well it is $2000 so that is 30% off right there.
No, #10 was $3000.

New Swoons on Paper Monster, by My Name is Frank on Dec 3, 2010 11:21:52 GMT 1, Very refreshing to see such a thoughtful and beautiful edition from Swoon. One of the finest editions I have ever seen from any street artist, so much work and time has gone into each and every one of them.

New Swoons on Paper Monster, by afroken on Dec 3, 2010 11:30:32 GMT 1, I decided against buying number 10 in the end. They are very beautiful but they are prints, and expensive ones at that. Perhaps if Paper Monster hadn't revealed that they had not only printed them but also did all the cutting, and that the artist simply assembled them then I might have been persuaded. I understand everyone's comments about them being 'like' originals but I don't want to spend this kind of money on something that looks like an original and at best can be described as a unique multiple. If they had been $500 less then it probably would have swung me.

I hear what you are saying V, but I am not sure these vary that much from what Swoon does for her originals. Nearly all her originals are prints (woodblock print on Mylar, screen print on fabrics, craft paper etc). Its what she does. She might even have these printed and cut by a third party or her team?
For me these are pretty much Swoon originals. They are also very beautiful and yes I am contemplating. Like you $500 cheaper and I would not even be thinking about it.

New Swoons on Paper Monster, by afroken on Dec 3, 2010 12:30:04 GMT 1, I think there is a significant difference between a hand painted or stained wood block (which by definition is very hand made and personal) and a letterpress print (which is machined). It's just my opinion of course and something that can be debated endlessly. At the end of the day the real sticking point for me is price.

Can't argue V with that, a lino-block print will have more of a human element to it but she also produces screen print originals on mixed media. Anyway its the price I am stuck on also so I guess we agree on that bit.

New Swoons on Paper Monster, by gilsteph on Dec 4, 2010 15:33:20 GMT 1, I agree the prices were a little on the high side but they were beautiful and striking too! Also this is the description of the one I bought.....sounds like more of an original than a print to me (but I am biased!)
This piece is built on a bright construction paper printed with a shell pattern as a base, collaged with tissue paper to balance it out.
Dimensions: 20 x 29 Inches.
Letterpress Print on Yatsuo B25 Kraft Paper. Relief Print on Magnani Arturo Stationary Weight Cut Paper. Mixed Media on Paper.
Signed, Swoon 2010

New Swoons on Paper Monster, by Andy'77 on Dec 5, 2010 12:27:45 GMT 1, Does anyone know the postage cost for the paper versions to the Uk, doesn't seem to get added on when you are redirected to paypal? Cheers.

New Swoons on Paper Monster, by joeschmo on Dec 8, 2010 6:48:03 GMT 1, Expensive but I'm sure they will be worth it, ask and serious gallery owner which 5 artists will go down in history from this genre and Swoon will be in 90% of their lists.
Something tells me her work will start to dry up soon though, she seemed a lot less interested in the commercial madness last time I met her in London, just tired of it all. Hopefully she'll concentrate on her street work more.

New Swoons on Paper Monster, by Andy'77 on Dec 9, 2010 10:42:59 GMT 1, Balls, there were eight or nine left yesterday but it appears all the remaining ones have sold overnight. Was sorting out some funds to get one too. Seems a little odd considering they'd all been sitting around for days. Oh well....
