APPLAUSE FRAMING, by rodlarock on Nov 21, 2006 9:47:05 GMT 1, Hope someone can help I need some advice about framing the applause print?
I went to a very well regarded framing store I have used before and handed them applause and said I wanted " the very best"
I was surprised they suggest for a print this size and for safety I should consider a more expensive option of using perspex instead of glass.
For the reasons that if it came off the wall - not unlikely in my house on a big night or if moving that the glass would probably damage the print if it shattered.
Is perspex going to look different if done right??

APPLAUSE FRAMING, by manchestermike on Nov 21, 2006 10:10:42 GMT 1, Very good question... I can see where they're coming from.
The way new houses are built these days I have to heavilly plug (i.e. ruin) the walls in order to hold smaller works up, I'd be more worried that if it fell it'd take half the wall with it!

Could the very well "regards" framer not tell you this? Surely he/she would have been best placed to, seeing as it's their job? There are one or two people that pop up on here who know their oats with regards to framing, but the rest is going to be pure guesswork. Am sure if they are well regarded, its more expensive, and they have suggested it that it will be pretty much the same? Why not ask to see a sample of a similar sized piece of perspex maybe?? I have only ever really seen cheap grade stuff that you would get in a hardware place - I guess what you are worried about is the "rainbow" effect you get with it, but am sure that won't be the case with picture perspex.

APPLAUSE FRAMING, by Curley on Nov 21, 2006 17:12:18 GMT 1, i went to a bespoke frame shop on Saturday, ยฃ220 acid free mounts and glass etc etc. Personally i would not want perspex but its your call.
