FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by Richard Seabrooke on Nov 17, 2010 23:40:15 GMT 1, yeah, huge fan of faile's and even though i had stilettos right up to paypal just couldn't pull the trigger... much prefer their other work and other pieces in the show... i see the blocks like the lazarides coins, nice to have if you're a collector but not an investment piece... mind you, they probably said that about warhol's brillo boxes...

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by lvc on Nov 18, 2010 2:24:21 GMT 1, Its actually disgusting to think how much money these guys make...Its literally printing money to them.
$240,000 revenue in one print release which most likely cost them $2000 in materials a the very most
Furthermore $800 for a faile?? That is totally unreasonable they are hardly mainstream. POW used to sell failes for £75.
I'm sorry but Banksy is the MAN for not selling out like these guys.
Those faile boys are laughing eating lobster and drinking Champagne in the Plaza hotel NY

I don't think your gauge of the Faile market is correct. Also do the numbers on Banksy's Trolley release and get back to me.

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by leumasdarnley on Nov 18, 2010 2:47:15 GMT 1, I think the POW main release which was just Unsigned, B/W Signed and Colour was over 1 million dollars in sales in about 15 mins. That is not including the LA prints.

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by lvc on Nov 18, 2010 3:25:42 GMT 1, Well people are buying it up so yes you are right to say they are popular but ultimately fail is charging banksy prices for something they are not. 6 maybe 7 out of ten people in the uk would probably be aware of banksy thats just a guess.. but my point is that less than 1 out of ten people would know who faile was. Even shep fairey is better known and hes charging $50 a print!
Its art for all the wrong reasons, banksy is the man and he can do what he likes in this market as far as I am concerned, he hasn't released one print this year! even I queued over night for the last one! he has droped laz and slowly dropping pow.
I'm sorry In my opinion which I am entitled too...faile is not worth all the hype as good as the art may be. They take full advantage of the fact that some middle aged people have to much money and feel young and hip by buying "alternative art".

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by leumasdarnley on Nov 18, 2010 3:36:24 GMT 1, You are free to your opinion but Faile has been around for quite some time. It's not like MBW riding some big hype train. They are charging fair market value for there prints to deter flipping. Shepard releases 450 prints a week so even at 50.00 thats over 40k a month on avg. His market is built on flipping IMO. Listen I could give a s**t about Faile but the reality is they have a nice international market the people who can afford the pieces do so and so what. I like Banksy a lot as well but he has cashed in at times and I don't blame him. Lets agree to disagree

Even shep fairey is better known and hes charging $50 a print! Probably more like 1 in 100 people know what Faile is. And probably 1 in 1000 people know who Wade Guyton is yet his stuff sells for more than both Faile and Banksy.

I think many an artist has benefited from that.

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by pcant on Nov 18, 2010 6:34:15 GMT 1, lvc: If I may be so bold, you are certainly entitled to your opinion (and if we all liked the same stuff, life would be deadly dull and all that) but why do you care of other people like and buy Faile prints? I don't like all the art on this forum, but it doesn't bother me if others do. What about it bothers you so much? Not trying to be a jerk, just curious. You seem quite emphatic.

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by mikeT on Nov 18, 2010 6:58:39 GMT 1, This recent release is no rep of what Faile is. Possibly a soft nudge to the FAILE TSUNAMI that is coming....
Now these ones rock my boat.

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by danielalaei on Nov 18, 2010 7:08:26 GMT 1, I also prefer these three to the three that were released.... But I guess the three Faile choose translate to paper better then these three. Going from block to paper seemed extremely difficult

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by pcant on Nov 18, 2010 7:12:43 GMT 1, Sub Rosa is definitely awesome. Not sure if these would have been more difficult than the three that were released. The prints are 18 colors, so that would make these three feasible, I would imagine? Maybe not Bedtime Stories.

It does make you angry and happy for some to see how crazy the urban art market is. dont get me started on mr brain wash!

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by adewilliams on Nov 18, 2010 12:36:05 GMT 1, it's not 2004 anymore is it and things have changed, for better or worse. Faile give the people what they want plain and simple, they are clearly very clever and understand the market and are hugely successful. Why be angry with them for that.

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by mrwyatt on Nov 18, 2010 12:51:24 GMT 1, Art is subjective - FACT, everyone likes different styles and artists - no one is wrong. I had no intention of buying a Faile print the other day (I didnt even have the cash) but I saw 'Launch Tonight and it struck a cord with me so I spent the next hour 20mins frantically pressing the BUY NOW button until it eventually relented and spat out a print. Sometime images do that to people, and right or wrong people will always buy what they want.

Interesting "FACT"..can you tell me a little on what aesthetic "chord" a scantily clad chick straddling a rocket on a pink background actually "struck" . Are you particularly interested in feminism, strong female role models, 1950's fashion and iconography, the duality of... well.. you know. Or soft porn ?. Or is this maybe just a sugar coated art placebo ? i.e, not art at all, unless the artist claims their concept as being to create sugar coated placebos that boys may like.. in which case the buyer would be in on the joke, rather than the joke being on them..
A massive step down in Faile quality and concept IMO..nevertheless, pretty product. If you ignore the price.
*apologies to Mrwyatt for quoting, not really directed at you but at the thread and work in general.

FAILE - Print Release - 16th Nov, by saint on Nov 18, 2010 13:52:22 GMT 1, Jebus Marte, i think the guy was saying each to their own which i fully agree with, if you dont like it fair play, but dont try and force your view on other people, or try using sarcasm to belittle someone for liking something you dont. This forum shocks me sometimes, some people are really nice and helpful and others feel that their view is the right one and no one else is allowed to express an opinion.
A massive step down in forum quality and posts IMO, nevertheless, blah blah blah. If you ignore the blah.

Don't agree with this at all for the size of this print and the work/coeliation that has gone into making it, not to mention the low print run I think £550.00 is a bargain
