NEW GUY DENNING ORIGINAL@RED PROPELLER, by bobbymeachamjr on Jul 22, 2007 7:30:02 GMT 1, I apologize for any negative vibes. Art has always been subjective and subject to profound discourse. Its important to express opinions both positive and negative. I just dont think the piece in which i referenced is any good. Nothing personal just my opinion on that ONE piece.

NEW GUY DENNING ORIGINAL@RED PROPELLER, by numusic on Jul 22, 2007 10:51:12 GMT 1, not sure if youre serious or not... but i truly hope you REALLY dont think that this "scene" is not corporate. Its business as usual.
No. really, I'm not joking, just kill yourself now.
We both know that if Guy Denning becomes known, then ad agencies the world over will be the first to rip off the style to try and flog us some "lifestyle" tat we don't need. As they've done with both graffiti and stencils..next ? dark figurative art, get in there now ! You read it here first

freaky.... i'd looked and looked at that pic, but only saw that head when you pointed it out. I love it even more now.
Who bought it? Was it someone on here?

NEW GUY DENNING ORIGINAL@RED PROPELLER, by alderevans2007 on Jul 22, 2007 13:19:28 GMT 1, Just something to think about - would you give a s*hit about this if it wasnt for the "Micallef recommends"? - sorry for the harshness but I've been hanging out with a bunch of frenchies... All I am saying is that the point you made seems directed at all forum members. I totally agree that a percentage of forum members saw the Micallef recommendation and decided to buy regardless of whether they liked the piece. But you cannot apply this to all forum members. Certainly not me. You are jumping to conclusions about forum members, just as you have done about me.
I bought a Guy Denning piece before I saw Micallefโs recommendation and before the gallery โvalidatedโ the piece to me. The gallery owner had no reason to give me the hard talk on the piece of art as I had already purchased it. So I can you can see, I did independently make a judgement on his work without anyone elseโs recommendations.
My main point is that, if I have bought for these reasons, then there is no reason that other people have bought for the same reasons.

NEW GUY DENNING ORIGINAL@RED PROPELLER, by mcnuts on Jul 22, 2007 13:27:35 GMT 1, I really like the piece Mcnuts. Everything Guy does means something to him. I bet there is alot of thought behind this piece. Anyone who ownes a guy denning original should be chuffed to bits because I think he is going far. You have a real piece of the artist there that will never be replicated. nice one!
nahh that one isnt mine. something from the redpop site. mine's a bit different

sorry if it seemed directed at ALL members - just meant it to be as a general remark of the psyche of the masses and how (in many cases) outside forces control us...

As they've done with both graffiti and stencils..next ? dark figurative art, get in there now ! You read it here first scene, what scene ? can you define the scene for me please.. do you mean street art ? there's perhaps 15 names who are making a very average living from it after producing work for ten to 20 years..maybe another 10 who have crossed over into fine art and maybe another 10-20 discussed on these boards who sell work to forum members and little else. Out of all of these anti consumerist artists, there's 3 or 4 that are prepared to suck corporate cock. The rest either started the "scene" or are involved in independent art related businesses.. that's what, 50 people or so.. hardly corporate is it. Mcdonalds alone employ 1 million people. I can not even attempt to have a discussion with you if you think this scene is not "corporate".
