TOX π¬π§ Graffiti, Street Art, Artwork For Sale, by gbh on Feb 21, 2009 14:35:17 GMT 1, we all know jboy can be "out spoken" from time to time...
but don't we have enough "let's hammer jboy" threads already (god knows I've participated in my fair share as well, just trying to reform my ways)?
I'm all for tagging, nothing brings me more joy than analysing each tag for style and placement that I see around the city daily.
I will say this though, if your tag is totally shit, do some work on it before hitting up everywhere.

I have no tolerance with this lavatorial vandalism, but i think you should reconsider what you have just said as it smacks of infantile barbarism where IMO is never a get out clause that allows for justification. There have been a number of fatalities due to this foolish idea that it serves as some sense of identity but their deaths and the suffering caused is rather a high price to pay do you not think? TWIT or t**t

Dear oh dear oh dear, you're either taking the proverbial (in incredibly poor taste), or you have absolutley no conception of how broad the umbrella of stret art is and the integral part that tagging has always played. Why do you feel the need to post like this - of you don't like it either keep quiet or be constructive in criticism. Silky there is no place for Jboy on this forum

I see these tags everyday, carved into tube trains with knives.
these are street gangs, not artists.
your paying for crime and injustice not art. Banksy is different as its clever art well placed - tox is nothing apart from a chav who finds his way around London underground pissing everyone off

What do you think tagging is?
Because i know tagging is to do with territories in cities, banksy is not a tagger he is a street artist.
Gangs tag on other gangs patches to piss them off.

TOX π¬π§ Graffiti, Street Art, Artwork For Sale, by Replete on Feb 21, 2009 17:52:02 GMT 1, Just to clarify street gangs and graffiti crews are entirely different entities as are their aims. Gangs mark their territory (usally a small area limitied to a few streets or housing estate) and defend their borders against other gangs with the use of violence.
Graffiti crews place tags to show where they've been for other writers to see in order to gain fame/respect in their peers eyes and the ultimate goal is to have your tags etc in as many places throughout the place they live also termed as "all city".
There is competition and one upmanship between crews but rarley results in any violence between crews and is almost unheard of any graffiti writer attacking a member of the public in the course of their activities.
And bombers come from all walks of life but in the UK a high percentage are actually middle class and usually involved in art and design courses and are the friendliest people you could hope to meet.
