other question, the last piece in the article, isnt that a piece that Martin Whatson has done as well (without the red arrows)? or am I mixing up stuff?

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by tobaum on Aug 2, 2011 14:27:21 GMT 1, Merci Marie. I always loved Jef's art. I have a Angela Davis painting by him which is stunning! I had the chance to talk with him at the AAF Brussels, he is clearly one the nicest. And what a passion! About art, music, clothes. He is amazing. He was nice enough to sign a book for my mother. A true gentleman.
I took some pics during his live painting, I took you might be interested to see those.

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by marie on Aug 2, 2011 15:13:11 GMT 1, Thank you all for the nice commentsβ¦ I really enjoyed writting this article
@ jopkop: I don't know the Whatson piece you mean⦠Do you have a pic? Jef Aérosol's crowd is one of his last stencils he did for his last show in Paris, at the Magda Danysz Gallery. A really impressive stencil. (I put more pics of this show in my flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/marie-aschehoug-clauteaux/sets/72157627054104548/)
@ tobaum: yes, he's a really gentleman, indeed. Always with a smile and a good word⦠Thanks so much for your pics, the Bob Dylan is just amazing. Unfortunately, I don't have yet any Jef's original, but I want to ask him the Old Slave, I love this face plenty of humanity and hope. You are very lucky to have the Angela Davis, do you have some pics of it? I'll take a look at your flickr set. Thanks!

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by tobaum on Aug 2, 2011 15:57:02 GMT 1, Marie, the old slave is definitely a good choice. Mine is this one:
One of my favourite pieces. An Angela very calm, almost a dreamer. We are not use to see her represented this way on this scene.

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by Coach on Aug 2, 2011 23:17:17 GMT 1, Jef is indeed a smashing bloke. I have told this before, but not for a few years. Several years ago I took my son to Jef's solo show in Islington. He loved it - we both did. At the time Jef was an active member of this forum. As my lad loved the show so much I suggested he sent a message - that I typed - to Jef telling him he liked it. Several messaged passed between them, and Jef asked if my boy painted himself. Jef asked my boy for some of his work, which he sent. Several weeks later, I got a call from my boy who was beside himself with excitment. He had recied a huge parcel from Jef including an original Bod Dylan piece, a used red arrow stencil and this beautiful piece
This started his collection, which he has grown since.
We also met Jef in Lille - he had an exibition there, maybe a year ago. I let him know we were visitin, and he made the effort to meet us at the show.
He was a complete gentleman, and a pleasure to meet.
His generoisty will not be forgotten by my family.
I do often wish he was still an active member here - I used to enjoy his posts.
Top bloke, top artist, I wish him well.
c

Thanks marie. Jef's kindness started my boy's passion for street art, and started his ever growing collection of originals! Do you happen to have a spare copy of the magazine that the interview was in? c

I think he meant: "I miss Jeff" but if you like you can change Marie to Miss Jeff By the way, very nice pics on your Flickr. Jeff is such a poseur, like it!
@coach: The collection of your son makes mine looking ridiculous and it is because Jeff? Lovely!

Jef Aerosol π«π· Stencil Street Art , by artatl on Dec 2, 2011 21:50:30 GMT 1, I'm selling my most prized possession, an original Jef Aerosol painting I won in a charity auction in Atlanta, GA called The Grind. The Grind (2007 and Grind 2.0 2008) shows featured a ton of top underground artists (Shep Fairey , Faile, D*Face, Mike Giant, etc.) and was featured on many news sources. The piece is painted (stencils and spraycans) on the topside of a quality blank canadian maple skateboard deck. It measures approximately 30" x 7.5".
The perspective is amazing. It features awesome detail, texture and technical work that you just cant get from a print. This is by far the most unique Jef Aerosol piece I've ever seen. Jef signed the front. Can provide provenance. It has two small framing eye bolts screwed into the back with framing wire for easy hanging.
I am offering it on e bay but would also like to deal directly with collectors. Anyone want to make an offer or give an approximation of worth?
