Phil Frost 🇺🇸 New Paintings • Exhibition News, by Simococo on Oct 25, 2008 20:05:04 GMT 1, 6.5 seems a sound price.
This is probably a daft question but why are comparable works on canvas as opposed to paper always more expensive? I have never bought a blank canvas so are they that pricey....?!

I think it has something to do with conservation. To keep your paperwork in perfect condition you will have to do some effort, and in the end you will always (!!!) loose. With canvas things are a lot easier, and you won't notice the decline of the quality that sharp as with paper...
that's what I think.. but I'm sure artist on this forum knows it!

Phil Frost 🇺🇸 New Paintings • Exhibition News, by Filipino Box Spring Hog on Oct 26, 2008 13:50:56 GMT 1, I once owned a Phil Frost piece on paper: I know for sure that he sprays the paper with something which makes/keeps it archival as I had inquired to the gallery owner about this very thing.

I haven't heard that one before, but if true, I wonder why any high dollar artist would make works on paper at all then. Afterall, there are Picassos, Renoirs, Dalis, Warhols, etc. all on paper.

Phil Frost 🇺🇸 New Paintings • Exhibition News, by risky on Dec 20, 2008 20:57:42 GMT 1, Elms Lester's has been Phil's main gallery in London from way back. There are some great pieces there at the moment. £500 for originals on paper. £5000 upwards for canvases. The ones at Urban Angel were either bought from Elms or the secondary market.

Phil Frost 🇺🇸 New Paintings • Exhibition News, by Carnage NYC on Apr 5, 2009 13:39:20 GMT 1, I overheard one of the assistants tell someone that the smaller pieces were $1100, but the quality of the small pieces varies, so if that is the real price then it would a steal for some of the more colorful pieces and a little steep for the simple black ink drawings.

Phil Frost 🇺🇸 New Paintings • Exhibition News, by Jonathan LeVine Gallery on Apr 10, 2009 17:05:39 GMT 1, Now through May2nd. Jonathan LeVine Gallery is proud to present Paperweight, a solo exhibition of new works by Phil Frost. For his first show at the gallery, Frost has created a new series of works on paper, including paintings and original drawings. As his first exhibition in New York in the past three years, Paperweight marks a highly anticipated event for this celebrated artist.
and in the project room...Jonathan LeVine Gallery is pleased to announce Hindi Love Song, a solo exhibition of new works by Gary Taxali. For his fist solo show in New York, the artist has created a series of mixed-media paintings and sculptures in what will be his largest collection of original work to date, both in quantity and in scale. Highly explorative when it comes to application methods, Taxali combines layers of collaged materials and silk-screening techniques. His images are produced using a variety of mediums—ink, oil, acrylic, enamel, and gouache—applied to a number of different surfaces including: paper, plywood, masonite, steel, aluminum, and vintage book covers.
Hope to see you at the gallery! Cheers JLG
