The Banksy FILM Effect , by Daniel Silk on Sept 6, 2010 23:40:25 GMT 1, Now with the DVD release of "Exit Through The Gift Shop" and most of us getting to see the film again, what effect on the scene do you think the film will have over the next few months?

The Banksy FILM Effect , by Daniel Silk on Feb 27, 2011 13:54:24 GMT 1, Lots of talk in the past of "The Banksy Effect" so what effect do you think the film will have on the Street/Urban Art scene? The film is surely going to open the eye of millions to this form of art, and maybe help to get Graffiti excepted even more as a true art form. Could this film just be the start, and other Artists will do similar?

Artists in these scenes have always made documentary's.... Banksy is hardly pioneering something here.

So you think the film will have very little effect?

Well they were already being made, so imo very little effect. Dont expect any more reaching the level exit has, thats for sure.

The Banksy FILM Effect , by nesa on May 13, 2011 13:16:00 GMT 1, I finally got around to watching ETTGS - and I loved it, really good doco.
Interestingly, I remember seeing MBW at the Can Festival back in 2008. I actually stood next to him and watched him spray a stencil of himself. Someone on these forums even posted a picture of him. I doubt he is a Banksy project, as some have suggested, That's a lot of forward planning!
As for the film - I think its genius for high lighting the proverb - "a fool and his money are easily parted" I admit I'm not an art expert, but I have embarked on some personal art projects myself (nearly did a fine arts degree too) IMHO, MBW's art in the film was crap.
