We have already had Exit through the Gift Shop, so I’m wondering if Banksy might fancy making another film in the future? Maybe more focused just on his career.
The last Film was a big success for Mr Brainwash, so I just think Banksy might have unfinished business trying to get his real messages across to the public and is a film the best way to do it.

It was a very peculiar film and rather indulgent. His editorial judgement is better with flat art ...

It provides context and information that in principle would allow the viewer to understand both a certain street art ethos and how that clashes with impulse consumerism and rapacious art market profit seeking. Then, it gets all immediately ignored and misread as endorsement. But I would not trust my own opinion. Last movie I saw was Aquaman.

I liked a lot the 5 first minutes of Exit with all these vandals ( that’s why I became a fan of graffiti and street-art - the most closer of the punk mind ) ..
I liked the story about the tenners, Invader a bit also and LA show !

It's interesting how people come away with different takes of films. I saw the film as the opposite of an endorsement of Mr Brainwash.

The film was suppose to be a battle of the titans Art World vs. Hollywood for biggest group of idiots. Art world won as Hollywood caught on right at the end and avoided massive embarrassment.

Sounds nice (like most made up stuff).... but no. If you know people who worked on the film you d know it wasnt that sophisticated of a plan.

Exit to the gift shop turned many people on to street art. It was wonderful.

My take is that it started as a street art doc but then I think it turned into an experimental Mr Brainwash movie. Having seen what Brainwash was doing, I think Banksy purposefully made it an X Factor / Talent show. Proving the mass population will consume anything that's put in front of them. The Banksy quote in the film for Brainwash's show “Mr Brainwash is a force of nature; he’s a phenomenon. And I don’t mean that in a good way” proves that with the queues around the block for the show.

As for another film from Banksy, I can't see it happening. I think at the time of release, people were calling for a street art film as there hadn't really been a film as significant as this (in a commercial / mass appeal sense). And arguably having the artist that changed the game as the main voice gave it that.

We all know how politically charged his art pieces are but I can't see him making a 90 minute film about Palestine or Refugees etc. I think he'll leave that to the professionals, like the Nativity Play that Danny Boyle directed for example. But I do hope we see much more from him, whether that's a film, a stunt or just a small rat. That's why we're all on this forum!
