Dan Baldwin π¬π§ Print Release β’ Painting β’ Artwork For Sale, by saajid22 on Jul 1, 2007 21:10:08 GMT 1, the tryptich is beautiful, i have artist proof #1, which i paid more than Β£750 for. money well spent. it looks so good framed. as for the price, well i guess dan is releasing lots of prints and we have been spoiled for choice. there was a lot of hype around dans work and i guess that attracted lots of investors, some of which wanted to sell for a quick profit. this was managed early on, but there has been quite a large number of them on ebay, i would guess between 20-25% at least. Β£750 is alot of money and to continually find people who have that sort of cash spare so soon after release is asking alot. so i think it was almost certain that prices would come down. especially as he has released another print since. i have to admit, i am hooked on dans work but i am struggling to keep pace. his new one is out soon. can't wait, nor can the credit card company.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ Print Release β’ Painting β’ Artwork For Sale, by frankiethe3rd on Mar 10, 2007 22:32:23 GMT 1, Of course I would not Thomas, I'd sell it for less than I paid for them and give the rest to charity! To be honest Thomas, I think my prices are fair or at least I try to be when I can and I always give discount to Banksy forum members and I find lots of interesting stuff and I even have a habit of making money for my loyal customer base as I give good advice and often what I sell goes up in value. And if I think I have something at a high price I often tell people that too. For example I think I could have sold my Judgement Day print 10 times but I have a habbit of telling people that you can get them cheaper on ebay. But I'm not prepared to sell that print cheap as I paid alot for it and I think it will increase in value with in time. I'm in no rush with that one Thomas. Its all relevant to what I pay. Stick with me Thomas and you'll make a few quid on the side. Now can I interest you in any of my wares? You know my number, please feel free to call or email me, advice is free my good fellow.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ Print Release β’ Painting β’ Artwork For Sale, by frankiethe3rd on Mar 10, 2007 23:18:19 GMT 1, Hey Mike, actually it was the 1st time I met him, probably the last also. I was on the guest list under my name, the invite sent to my email address and I bought the most killer butterflygirl on wood. I was honestly going to keep this one for ever. I was asked for my details and i gave this girl my business card, you all know I have nothing to hide and am not ashamed of being in the privileged position of dealing (and collecting) art, and she shouted out at the top of her voice to everyones surprise "OH MY GOD YOUR CAMPBARBARA" ... I asked if there was a problem and she said that 'your one of our competitors' then she had a meeting with Laz and others and pretended to smooth things over and the next day by telephone said to me that i'm not having my piece and that she sold it after I left. Of course I was disapointed but I think I'll take it as a compliment. I have a wicked faile piece on the site though.... think I'm keeping it though as it's just fantastic.

I want to keep one really great faile piece and I will sell if I find one better. But for the time being this is it. I only have only so much wall space so I can't keep or afford to keep everything so things do have to rotate. Thats how I started selling art. Kept finding something better so sold the other piece and kept making money on the piece I sold.s**t happens(!) But I love my job too.

Credit it where it is due Frankie. I was quoted Β£500 from Opus and Β£750 from Leonard St, for Blek's TMWWTW yesterday, but you have stuck to Β£375, and offered me discount on postage and paypal fees. On that premise, you'll do for me fella.

You are using the wrong your, as in "oh my god is that your handbag that YOU'RE swinging about"

yes, if you're trying to sell it for twice as much whilst still on the premises or the day and week after. Laz have enough clients to sell out shows to. I'm sure they'd much rather sell to their client base than to other baggers and galleries who will immediately stick a massive mark up on it.

Dan Baldwin π¬π§ Print Release β’ Painting β’ Artwork For Sale, by frankiethe3rd on Mar 11, 2007 11:05:15 GMT 1, Dearest Nuart & Brooksy, I purchased one single piece for myself and of course I wasn't trying to sell it on the day, thats a rediculous thing to say. If they did not want me in there or to buy anything why put me on the guest list in the 1st place, they know who I am and made that very clear. All very strange to me. Like I said before, I'll take it as a compliment. I'm a Faile fan and the work at the show was truly amazing but I can't say the same for the organisation and the weird atmosphere. Thanks for pointing out the grermatiKal Airer Brooksy, I'm sure you'll find alot more too. Anyway, enough already, I'll throw the handbag away (infact I'll sell it on ebay) I'm off to collect my Logan Hicks Spray paints on wood. Have a good day you wonderful people.

Fair enough, but consider. You've been buying and selling work by PoW and various other outlets including ebay to a certain demographic for a good while now. You buy at cost add a mark up and sell on at inflated prices (relative to the retail price), your Adam Neates had a 1k mark up the day after they sold out. at the end of the day, you do nothing to promote this scene, you exist only to turn a healthy profit and promote yourself. Now if I've commissioned and supported an artist over a long period of time to make work and put the effort into producing a ltd print or have a show, and my own customers/friends/supporters want the work, then why the F**k would I sell it to you knowing that you're gonna stick it in your store the next day for three times as much ?
If you liked Faile so much, where are all your prints and canvasses ? you've only just started mentioning them.. they've been around and available at Laz and through their own site for an age.
You're a secondary market trader, to even begin to comare yourself to Laz/Pow/BRP, people who source, produce, finance and support the showing of new art, is laughable.
peace
