"The new piece is part of the Apocalypse series (really!). An Eagle flies hanging onto a battle worn Union Jack (sounds shit). The Union Jack is made of printed fabric and embellished into it's worn state (wow), using an electric sander(you're kidding). This flag is stuck onto the rest of the paper print (blue peter style), the same deep rich red as the first "Apocalypse Wow " print we produced (bully for you). the print has a black border (yeah we can see that) with a real old pound note (cheapskate) and cross. Limited to just 50 prints, This is one of his best works (no its not. and even if it was we would be the judge of that)

Price: £550.00 (you having a laugh 550 big ones for a picture we can't even see the pictures are so small) "

That made me laugh as that's exactly how I read it. 'One of his best works' translates as "Help, this really is not up to scratch but we have a contract with the artist and cannot tell him!"

I saw one today and it does look amazing, it's the textures and finishes that really make it a special piece.
However like I said on a previous post, you can pretty much see what you're getting on the thumbnail, and if you don't like that, then no amount of nice printing is going to be worth £550

I decided to buy Politics instead, got it through today, and I agree it's much better than this piece - arguably his best. My only regret is that my missus didn't realise she liked it when it was new for £150

Anyone want to offer advice on which to get?

I have a choice of getting the new Baldwin print at cost - "F*%k Religion"

or

A full set of the Hewlett windows from POW - Unsigned.

Both cost just as much as each other, but I can only afford one.

Thanks for the advice or should I pass on both?

Tough choice matey. Although i would say if you pushed the boat out and got the Hewlett's signed you have a very Strong investment. But the the fcuk religion is class ;D . On the other hand the Hewlett's are alot more detailed than you actually see on the web site and brilliantly printed and even my mum went 'ooh I like them!', when she saw them.... usually that would make me not like something if my mum likes it but this was an unusual moment of two different generations being in total agreement.

I was tempted with the Hewletts a while back (November time) but decided to wait until the Ghetto. Unfortunately they're one of the strange breed of prints that I think actually look worse in the flesh than on the web

dunno, don't look out for his art ...just going on the basis one is signed and the others are not - and at the worst he'd get a buyer at cost on here if he really wanted to sell the Baldwin quickly...long term a signed baldwin will acrue value i'm sure - if his star keeps rising..

The Tryptych was overpriced IMO, went to the show and realised that I could buy two of his larger prints and have enough left over to get something for £150, so could have three prints for the same price, simple economics really.

Holy Fxxk on the other hand is a better investment at cost as it is proven to sell for more than that. The windows, well they haven't been on sale for over a year for nothing, the demand for Gorillaz stuff just isn't there.

It seems like a lot of the band related prints don't sell that well - hewlett's gorillaz, insect's dj shadow stuff and stanley donwood's radio head related prints. Maybe its musical tastes, personal tastes or whatever. They don't seem to fly out the door though.

As for Baldwin, I'm worried i'm not feeling his stuff at all. No point buying something unless it says something to you.
