Old Pictures On Walls Price List, by stopki on Feb 4, 2010 10:17:25 GMT 1, Its amazing how much these early pieces have risen in value, and who knows some bit we are buying now for less than £50, by another Artist might go the same way in 5 years time.
Not so much £50 but dalek, is a sure hit. He's not street art but more of a painter.
But the line is thin, and his time is to come.

Old Pictures On Walls Price List, by motor on Feb 4, 2010 10:45:56 GMT 1, Be nice to check that email out! Any chance of posting it? To clear a few bits up on here, the website this came from was a stock library sales site of mostly urban and music pictures, which I think was owned by Sleazenation of which Mr Laz was heavily involved, you could choose a to buy a photo and they would put it on canvas at what ever size you wished hence the size options (NOT photos of Mr B's artwork)!! The screens were an after thought, which worked!!! :-) I remember buying a few signed at the time but thinking £100 was a bit expensive :-) But happy with what I got!
Thanks for clearing that up MA. Always good to have members like you around here.

For me still not sure how many artists out there who could go the same way as Banksy. Banksy was prolific and also had a good team of people around him who all helped market Banksy in a unique way.
Can't think of any up and coming artist who hits the street and is as prolific and seems to have the potential to "do a Banksy"
Apart from Shep, none of Banksy's contempories come close to having a profile or a popular passionate following like Banksy.

agreed I really wish there was someone with the invention, work rate and obvious genius of Banksy - because I want to be that excited about an artist again.
But there simply isn't

Old Pictures On Walls Price List, by adewilliams on Feb 4, 2010 12:49:34 GMT 1, I'm all for a good honest work rate and being prolific on the street is very important to succeed in this scene. However, I think/hope the next superstar will produce a fraction of the work that a lot of artists currently put out there. Some could help fill that big old art bin. You know the one

Agree in a way. For me the thing that Banksy did well, was he put a lot of work on the street and a fraction of that work was actually for sale. If an artist puts up a lot of work on the street "just for the street", then I have no issues if some is bad, as long as some is good and it's not costing me anything to see it and the artist isn't expecting me to pay for it.
I notice on here a few artists ask for opinions on studio work and then say I'm going to put it on the street (and then the inevitable screen print for sale). I wish more just got on the street and let the street judge rather than a bunch of loud mouther arrogant forumites who hide behind silly names (I include myself in this description).
There's so much of Banksy's street work that has never been made into prints that is excellent and I wish more artists did that. Banksy needs some competition!
I know Cartrain gets dissed on here and to be honest I haven't seen a piece of his art I'd like to own yet, but I do like that he does stuff that is not too safe. IMO some of Banky's early stencil stuff wasn't artistically great but his attitude made me like what he did.

I can think of one, possibly two, Bristish artists and an american (not shep) that have the above qualities. Street art is just a part of what they do and I think that's the key. There will be no 'the next banksy' he has that market cornered. No other street artist will become a household name like him the world over, he is the king. Artists need to offer something different if they are going to be recognised outside of this scene and that is happening, rare as it is. imo

Okay guys! You have £100 only to spend and you can order just one signed Banksy print... JUST ONE print from POW's site of 2003, which print would you choose?
Mine would have to be Happy Choppers.

Old Pictures On Walls Price List, by nombei on Feb 4, 2010 20:23:08 GMT 1, yea, those prices look crazy cheap now, but at the time paying $80 - $200 for a "fancy poster" also seemed sort of crazy.
the prices through Greenleaf Bookshop were usually a bit cheaper than POW. think i got my Flying Copper and HMV through them and my Bomb Hugger thru POW.
