LV & Others Still Available & Prices Reduced, by Mister Frame Man on Apr 2, 2010 22:44:24 GMT 1, In all fairness nobody ever said not to promote the piece should I ever want to sell, only that they had preferred methods of me doing so.
In my mind I have exhausted those methods and need to promote the piece further afield than what I am preferred to do.
At the end of the day I am running a small business and have managed not to have to sell any major pieces from collection to date, now however I do find myself in a situation where I need to raise some funds.
I absolutely love and enjoy every piece on my walls and if I didnt need to sell anything then I wouldn't! In my current situation I feel that I need to sell 2/3 pieces that I feel that I can sell, rather than mess around selling 10/15 pieces that I enjoy just as much for less money.
Four kids, holidays and general happiness must mean more to me and my family than any piece of art (unfortunately)......Life goes on.

LV & Others Still Available & Prices Reduced, by nigelbgg on Apr 4, 2010 13:53:53 GMT 1, On the other hand, you ALL like to see the paintings that you bought increase in value over the weeks, months, years, and one of the only ways to do this is to limit the amount of work for sale at one time on the open market, if the markets flooded no ones buying, everyones undercutting, and selling for below gallery price, your paintings are worth less and less, people panic and sell leading to a collapse in price.
Its nice to see galleries that try to place their artists paintings, you know then that when you pay 5k for a painting you're buying a good investment for the future. See what Laz, Elms, Camp Barbara, Andipa, Deich and all of these other solid dealers are doing. Pity CampBarbara sold to quite a few mugs in the past and now he's paying for it a little bit with his reputation.
I'd be pissed off if I was Beejoir and had given you a painting as a gift and you were flogging it for 4k.

I agree with you but classic as this particular image is, I think that there are too many editions of it for it ever to be a good investment at ยฃ5K - however much the owners try to limit the amount of them on the market at any one time.

LV & Others Still Available & Prices Reduced, by spirit on Apr 4, 2010 17:42:25 GMT 1, Well yes and no. I understood what you were saying but I was thinking about the LV child canvass (which Gary is also selling and of which there are a few on the market at this time) whereas you were talking about Herakut (as was everyone else on this page!)
so more a tangent than a misunderstanding really...;-)

It'll come back to bite him.

Regardless of what other galleries do and if they sell to "mugs" or not, Campbarbara were very selective at the time of this show as to who they sold to. I do not consider myself a mug because of a change in circumstance which forces me to sell some pieces that I would much rather keep. I am not looking to sell for a profit, just to release some much needed cash.
Secondly, without speaking specifically of my LV, if any artist is to "gift" a piece should the person needing to move some pieces then "gift" this piece on and give it away?
I don't need to go into details and explain to you or anyone else as to how or why I came to own any of the pieces that I own and I certainly do not need to explain why I need to raise some cash.
Don't think I even need to explain why I am choosing to sell one piece over another.
Going back to the thread, should you wish to make me an offer on any of my pieces instead of judging me on what I am selling then feel free to pm me.
Likewise - Anyone else, I am now open to offers on the pieces in this thread so offer away!

I wouldn`t be actually - IF it was a gift (which we don't know in the first place) then I would be happy that what I gave someone helped them out - if they can get good money for it then good luck to them ?
At the end of the day I cannot believe that people are somehow making out that Gary has to justify what / why he is selling ?
Loved the comment about the gallery keeping the money for two years and having to be dictated to as to what they do with the money - sums it all up as far as I am concerned !!!!

Agree with the above, however when people are spending 4k-ish they do have a right to ask about the history of said item, of course that can all be done in private.
