Alexandre Farto aka Vhils is a famous visual artist from Portugal. Mostly known for his highly unorthodox mediums in art: he carves, drills, and blasts to expose the layers in materials. By using all those techniques, he is removing layers in order to reveal the beauty in his art. He simply calls it “creative destruction." Vhils believes that we are all composed of layers upon layers of social and historical fabric. Our social system is the product of similar layers and by eliminating some of the top layers; we may be able to accomplish a more pure form.

Hello, has you can see from recent IG stories from Studiocromie, they are printing a new Vhils release. I contacted them and they said that they are going to release in November!

They are going to do 4 editions:

2 Edition Size 50
Dimensions 70X100cm
Price 3500€

2 Edition Size 20
Dimensions 130X90cm
Price 7500€

All editions made with plexiglas and advertising posters from billboards fragments stolen directly from the street.

The edition is going to be similar to what they did last year: studiocromie.org/news-archive/

I think there is a new edition that has to be released tomorrow (Vhils - Studio Cromie), ads collected from the street with plexi.
From what I saw on Instagram it seems there are three different editions.
I thought I read on UAA about the price of each edition but I can't find back the information...
Does someone has the info? Any image to share also?

Hello,

Be carreeful with Studiochromie. Few months ago, angelo and vhils makes Agnosia limited ed....and now you have exactly the same pictures and the same process with a different size.. a joke and nobody serious do an limited ed to do unlimited ed..
I love vhils work but this is an horrible way to do and a very bad signal to the collectors

I would add that the layer of cut-outs from advertising posters are not made by Vhils himself but by Studiochromie.
The only thing that is produced by Vhils on this artwork is the silkscreen image, the rest is not by the artist himself. A bit (a lot?) disappointing...

It’s made at idem Paris. Top quality 
He made a screenprint time limited edition too almost a year ago. The difference is not so big
 
And for your interest, it was just 647 prints, so the number is not so high

Right, but in my opinion, here the number will be higher because it s a good one and color is much rare on Vhils prints

I dunno if the number will be higher because it's a lot of money for an open edition.  But you are right, Vhils rarely uses color.  He uses colors with StudioCromie but they are often quite expensive due to the limited numbers and being on wood or persplex.  

And Idem Studios does put out nice work...

I have a Vhils "to have or to be" which is an 8 color screenprint (and actually signed as "vhils" and not the usual "alexandre farto")

I have hesitated between buying and not buying and ended up buying at last minute on Sunday night...

I have seen videos of the print being produced and the quality seems super nice, might even look better without the handfinished?

How many in here bought one?

I got one too, nice one in person, great colors, the face gets a bit more lost in the background than what was shown online - not necessarily an issue. the first VHils in my collection
