Mear One 🇺🇸 Street Art • New Print Release , by Klow on Feb 12, 2010 14:17:22 GMT 1, I am really into Mear One's style and the quality of his past prints has been top notch. I am just not too into the subject nor price of this one
I dig Bob and Jimmy too, but enough with the prints alrdy! There are lots of other influential musicians that could be the subject of some sweet new artworks.
As music and art are two of my favorite things here's hoping that artists will expand their musical subject horizon and stop recycling the same old ish...

Mear One 🇺🇸 Street Art • New Print Release , by Deleted on Feb 12, 2010 15:10:42 GMT 1, who is Mear One?...
come on.. this is a very weak image of Jimi, nothing about his energy at all.. there are more creative ways to express his music, halucinations, love, submission than using some fluorescent colors..
some of the faces look more like snoop dogg than Jimi Hendrix.. sorry but this release does absolutely no justice to Jimi or the price asked..

Have to agree. The fact that you can't help but compare it to Choe's Jimmy (which is great imo) really doesn't help either.

Mear One 🇺🇸 Street Art • New Print Release , by Baurmann Gallery on Feb 22, 2010 10:00:35 GMT 1, Thanks Silky!
It is made out of the lightweight foam often used in the movie industry. Though it is extremely light (especially in comparison to other materials of similar size, workability and strength), his sculpture is still 13 feet tall and very heavy. It is still an extreme endeavor to move and the sculpture needs to be packed with care in addition to being moved with care, on or in a very large moving truck.

Mear One 🇺🇸 Street Art • New Print Release , by Baurmann Gallery on Feb 22, 2010 10:03:07 GMT 1, He is actually going to have a VERY large mold made and create a 1/1 bronze and stainless steel version of his "Pillar of Consciousness" sculpture. That is a project that I look forward to seeing for sure in the future.

Mear One 🇺🇸 Street Art • New Print Release , by An Uprising Gallery on Feb 23, 2010 21:32:24 GMT 1, Easy there folks! Come on. Really? Nothing in this piece says hallucinations, tracers, auras, and a space time freak out to you? Really? Really?
Are we looking at the same image?
And it doesn't capture Jimi's image/lion-like spirit, lost in the spiraling glow of a kick-ass, luminescent acid trip, mind bending space warp? Again... really? Really?
As far as I can tell, MEAR used a number of reference pictures of Jimi in creating this incredible homage to the world’s greatest guitar player of all time. But hey, I was lucky enough to see the massive, detailed original up close and personal at a recent show in downtown LA, which is almost life sized, amazingly detailed and literally bursting with seemingly magic, acid trip luminosity.
But then again, I'm a die hard MEARone fan. So I guess to each his/her own.
As for me; I’m ordering one to add to my MEARone collection and I like the fact that it's a bit of a break from MEAR's normal (at least normal to MEAR) political/occult/Eyes Wide Shut subject matter.
I suggest that anyone interested in grabbing a piece of a star that’s about to go supernova do the same as MEAR is about to blow through the roof with his phoenix like rebirth as the world comes around to the place where MEAR has been all along.
With the world waking up to the reality that almost everything in dominant culture is total and complete, soulless bullshit, from our so-called mainstream Robber Baron fronting news, politics, and economics, to so-called art that’s now, with the total saturation of programs like Photoshop and Painter, almost wholly derivative computer hack crap, MEARone is a REAL ARTIST (master of all media: cans, oils, pencils, pens, sculpture, etc.) who tackles subject matter often indecipherable to the uninitiated laymen (AKA brainwashed American tools) while his works simultaneously speak volumes to the few that actually have their eyes, minds and souls wide open to the horrific, and at the same time incredibly beautiful world around us.
So, as the “Powers That Be” continue to drive humanity toward global war, total economic collapse and techno pharaoh fascism, and as “art” has been wholly co opted by the Robber Baron classes and driven into the toilet by talentless hacks, MEAR’s incredibly talented, intelligently twisted, genius comes into focus and takes it’s place as one of the last, great, REAL artists taking a stand against the never ending tidal wave of cheese.
Sure, this piece isn't going for the throat of the "Powers That Be" or demanding that any of us re-examine our world view or perceptions, but hey... I love MEAR's work and I love Jimi's work, so what the hell?
My advice: Buy as many and as much MEARone as you can get while you can still afford it.
- Peas!

Yes, no, yes, yes, definitely, no, yes, YES!

Mear One 🇺🇸 Street Art • New Print Release , by rosstierney on Feb 23, 2010 23:53:36 GMT 1, i didn't bother commenting on this first time round. i thought, you can't really complain for $65. then i've just realised it's actually $650, LOL. talking about acid, you'd have to be mid trip to buy one of these. mear's obviously gifted but this image should have stayed as an OG. do i have to remind everyone that this is just my opinion?

Mear One 🇺🇸 Street Art • New Print Release , by dirtypilot on Mar 14, 2010 21:34:49 GMT 1,
www.dirtypilot.com presents a series of 7 "Mono Distortions" by MEAR ONE. These fantastic images will be showing now through April 11 at DirtyPilot in the pilots Lounge.
www.dirtypilot.com/lounge.html
There are artists who paint with the intention to be the best, or to make a ton of money, some to become famous, but MEAR questions the intention of each of his individual works, asking is this a worthy concept; and what is the outcome of such a work that speaks to the masses. This is an involved process in which MEARs hopes are to bridge a gap between what is common and that which isnt. To raise a responsible conversation on the topic that is displayed, i.e. the painting. MEARs works are meant to bring the unseen mysteries locked with in our minds to the foreground as if to take part in a grand expose`. The question of how did we become, and why. To see through the illusion of our decrepit social condition and speak out with art as a weapon of mass liberation.
