Banksy - No Ball Games (GREEN), by chippy on Dec 14, 2009 0:02:38 GMT 1, What's interesting and has been raised before is: - queueing for a night makes you experience at least for a night what many homeless go through all winter. All this just before Christmas. Maybe this was part of the plan... Ok...now maybe it's me looking at meanings where there aren't really any..
I am sure it was not part of the plan but It did give you a small insight into a night open to the elements, and it is not pretty... spare a thought or have a bash at changing things... better get my ass off here then....
And in a poof he was gone...
CHIPPY!!

Banksy - No Ball Games (GREEN), by notworthit on Dec 14, 2009 0:03:44 GMT 1, If POW only allowed pepole to register for the on-line lotto with only their real name as their email address realname@whateverISP.co.uk (easy to set up a hotmail/gmail ect) and the name had to match the payment details ect, that would cut out a few piss-takers, and maybe hold the COA until the owner wanted to sell.that might also slowdown flips, as they do not want to be blacklisted.I think they should release the next print away from London too.Maybe be overseas or a treasure hunt. I'm getting carried away or how about you HAVE to register the print at POW with the new owner, and they update your prov which is kept at POW? so if flipper wanted to sell he would have to call up POW to transfer the name on the print. and doing it within the first week they just destroy the prov and the print is worthless. i think im onto something?
Good ideas all, trouble is tho.. I do get the impression POW don't really give a hoot. They're going to sell regardless, I don't think they're as worried about the flipper situation as everyone thinks.
I'm also still wondering why, when they'd given out the raffle tickets and/or when they knew there were 230 people in the queue, why didn't they just open the door and sell them then instead of making people sleep on the streets on the coldest night of the year so far?
Anyway, I could be completley wrong, wouldn't be the first time
and this also could be posted in the completely wrong place!

Banksy - No Ball Games (GREEN), by Deleted on Dec 14, 2009 0:16:20 GMT 1, As a teacher, I love it because it points out a simple fact: Kids will always find a way to problem solve and have fun, rules be damned. I believe it celebrates rebellion and mocks overbearing bully adults. Banksy may be reminding us that we all used to think that way, before we fell in line. (But I am drunk) early morning, kids and hangover. Have a good day at work

Congrat's to all who were lucky enough to get a print, just do the right thing and frame it not flip it!! Money comes and goes, a Banksy print from the source is a much rarer thing hold on to it tight!! Cheers...

Banksy - No Ball Games (GREEN), by mrease on Dec 14, 2009 3:34:37 GMT 1, Its seems blindingly obvious to me that the message and concept of this work is deeply ingrained in the biblical prophecies. First we see Adam and Eve playing with a sign , this sign tell us 'no ball games' the 'ball' being spherical is of course referencing the 'apple' , the playing of which led to the creation of 'original sin' and the downfall of man. hence why there should have been 'no games'. As a dual theme, but still relevant to the first meaning, there is the idea that the 'ball' (the sphere) could be referring to the planet earth , mankind is currently engaged in a dangerous 'game' of manipulating the carefully balanced ecological systems which could lead to the cessation of life as we know it - the total and final downfall of man ! hence why we have to tread very carefully indeed if we continue to 'play games' with the earth. Lastly the work directly references the return to earth of the saviour , jesus , as foretold in the bible. The male and female both looking up reverentially for ' the sign' , the return to earth of the incarnation of the son of god. the three aspects of this art work also bring to mind the triumverate - the father , the son and the holy ghost, laid out in the classical triangle formation (the triangle being symbological of the pyramid of power , from god through the church down to man). So it seems that once again , the depth and scope of the art is eclipsed only by its immediate simplicity ! though to be fair it could just be a one-liner about playing with a sign that forbids the very activity it is being used for . No Ball Games .

HC, do you mind me asking why you think this is a classic?
Good luck to you, and to all who I know on here. Here's to hoping that by the end of the day (assuming today is the day that winners are notified) I am the proud owner of a new signed Banksy...

Great idea.
I would also love to see POW collaborate with this forum and do an exclusive print release to the members, perhaps a lottery to members who have been registered for a certain length of time. Not only would it be interesting to see a release hitting a source of real fans (this forum) but equally interesting to see how many flippers it would produce.
fingers crossed everyone for this release.
