dont buy it if you dont like it, i wanted to see what other people thought, not how much profit people hoped to gain.

Noite Amarga definitely deserved its tag and more. Incredible piece and a lucky collector picked up a gem.
Went last night. I agree the show is priced somewhat aggressively, but that's what the weak dollar and a prior show in England with do. You can't undercut the prices of Ocontemporary, just like Levine couldn't undercut the prices on Blu sketches after the Laz. show despite the prices looking ridiculous in the States. Besides, the quality of work definitely justifies.
The real suprise was that Samba Maioral is one of those pieces that looks magic in person. The colors are fantastic and it would easily have been my second/third choice behind Noite and, maybe, Mentiras.
The etchings are very impressive, but smaller than I would have liked. The detail and work put in to them, wow.
All-in-all, Titi Freak showed that he is an artist of incredible talent and incredible style(nice guy as well, tried hard to overcome the whole language issue). His work really stands out from the 'noise' in the current scene.

Thanks.

Titi Freak 🇧🇷 São Paulo Street Art • Hamilton Yokota, by mose on May 17, 2008 15:53:51 GMT 1, That was a tasty piece in the flesh and most people I asked said it was the #2 piece in the show(behind Noite which was just one of those pieces in a artist's career that takes things to the next level). The color was very well done, little hidden flashes of brilliant hues here and there coupled with Titi Freak's way of capturing the eye-lip combo and the mystery of the emotion.
If it is in debate, you should consider it bought. A top-of-the-class piece that I would have gone after if A. it didn't have a red dot next to it, and B. the simple fact that my wife would kill me if I bought any more Titi Freak(or art in general)

Thanks!
Yeah i bought it straight away. I really liked it from the email and i thought it was the right piece for me. Saying that, i know sometimes that when you buy from an email, it's completely different to seeing it in person.
Usually in person the piece is better, but occasionally it can be the other way around.
Thanks for that...you've put my mind at ease.
Thanks to the other poster above too...two positive comments can't be wrong:)

glad to put your mind at ease. you will more-than-pleased when you receive it.
The biggest email-to-flesh turnaround was Traido. I really did not like the original jpeg of this image but seeing it live revealed it to be a very good piece.

Cool, thanks:)
I was committed to buying it regardless, just wanted to know it was good in the flesh, so that's great news:)
I presume you're in NJ, not Jersey as in the Channel Isles? Long trip if it's the latter.
I'd put money on it that TF will be a leading artist over the next 5 years. I always thought it and still do.
I bought probably the very best canvas i have ever seen some years ago from his show in Japan. Fed Ex lost it in transit. I got my money back, which was around £1000, but the piece was irreplaceable. This new piece is my first attempt at getting a close replacement.
I sold my Sake box back to Seth Carmichael as a favour, as he too is trying hard to collect TF while he can. Choq Brasil have the most amazing piece on metal still available for around $12k. It's huge and the only piece he has ever done on metal. If anyone's looking, it's a great buy.

Titi Freak 🇧🇷 São Paulo Street Art • Hamilton Yokota, by Trismanco on Jun 28, 2008 22:50:55 GMT 1,
Today I was lucky enough to visit the Tomie Ohtake Institute in Sao Paulo. To celebrate a 100 years of Japanese Immigration in Brazil this contemporary art museum (which is an amazing building - www.institutotomieohtake.org.br was presenting an outstanding show of Japanese art. The show included works by famous Japanese and Japanese/Brazilian artists from the last hundred years, to include traditional styles, modernism, manga - right up to the present day. Titifreak was invited to represent his work with an outstanding installation taking up one whole wall. Taking photographs was not allowed so I found some on Titifreak's blog that show the piece, although they don't do it justice - Outstanding work!

Titi Freak 🇧🇷 São Paulo Street Art • Hamilton Yokota, by mose on Jun 29, 2008 0:03:09 GMT 1, I am tremendously biased as I own several of his works and really dig his Brazilian/Japanese style, but I think Titi Freak is going to become legend in the next few years. Keep developing his style/technique and he's going to do some sick Barry McGee, Os Gemeos type stuff with those installation pieces......
It's going to be fun watching his career continue to unfold.
