Bloomsbury Auctions π¬π§, by RBK on Nov 16, 2007 1:29:39 GMT 1, I forget who told me this - but it rings so true. The person at the art opening in jeans and sneakers is often the biggest/richest collector in the room because he has nothing to prove to anyone. ... or he's banksy. ;D
Or a young forum member that has no business being there! ;D

[glow=red,2,300]Payment[/glow] Purchases must be paid for before they can be released. Payments can be made in cash, by cheque in sterling drawn on a UK bank, by direct wire transfer in sterling, [glow=red,2,300]by credit card[/glow](Visa and Mastercard only), for which there is a 3% surcharge added to the invoice total, and by UK debit card or Maestro, for which there is no surcharge. For first time buyers cheques must be cleared before purchases can be released.
[glow=red,2,300]VAT (Value Added Tax)[/glow] Zero-rated items such as books, unframed maps and albums are not subject to VAT on the buyer's premium. Eligible items such as manuscripts, prints, photographs, drawings, framed maps, paintings, pens and other objects are subject to VAT on the buyer's premium as part of the auctioneers margin scheme at a rate of 17.5%. This will be invoiced at a rate inclusive of premium and VAT. Seller's commission will also be invoiced at a VAT inclusive rate in the case of the sale of eligible items. Lots which are daggered (β ) in the catalogue are subject to VAT on the hammer price as well as the buyerβs premium. Lots marked with an asterisk (*) have been imported from outside the EU to be sold at auction under temporary importation, and therefore the buyer must pay the import VAT at a rate of 5% on both the hammer price and buyer's premium.

Bloomsbury Auctions π¬π§, by finsburyparkranger on Nov 28, 2007 14:58:24 GMT 1, The Banksy's will get sold around 3.30pm - 4.00pm I think. Soon the break will be over and the price will tick upwards for the earlier pieces. Last time some banksy's went for a song.
why does it say time left 8 hours? Can people bid after the hammer goes down ?

You don't pay VAT on the hammer price but only on the Buyers premium (which I believe is 19%). So it all works about 22% IIRC. Not sure about this auction but most make the buyer pay the ARR which is 4% as well.
