Replete π¬π§ TPN Crew Graffiti β’ Leeds Graffiti Artist, by Replete on Jul 26, 2011 17:54:21 GMT 1, Did this new cling film sculpture the other day in a derelict factory as part of my ongoing series and is entitled Riding The Shark:
It's painted on several layers of clingfilm and an old fire door spread various depths that when viewed from a correct angle the image of an origami shark and it's rider are formed.
Here's a short clip showing the layout of the work's elements in relation to each other:
Some other new ones:
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
A quick one with my TPN crew mates Pryme and Crie. And another quick on by me:

Not sure if I think they are beautiful, but it's fascinating material.. did you come up with this yourself? I can imagine it takes some struggling to master this material. Love it when you see artists exploring new things.

Replete π¬π§ TPN Crew Graffiti β’ Leeds Graffiti Artist, by Replete on Jul 27, 2011 21:47:26 GMT 1, Thanks Jokop I'm much more happy creating interesting works than beautiful but I do find these beautiful if somewhat ominous.
Painting on wrapping probably started around over 5 years ago with Astro and Kanos in France but a few others are also doing it too now and again.
It started as creating a temporary wall substitute to paint on by fixing several layers thicknesses of industrial wrap between two fixed points such as trees or lamp posts and then paint a traditional graffiti piece on it:
What I'm the first to do is see the material for it's transparent quality and to use multiple layers positioned at various depths in relation to each other in order to allow me to paint objects/characters that seem to be interacting with or floating in a derelict environment and illusions that form when seen from the correct viewing point:
Unlike others I paint on a single layer thickness of the much thinner standard kitchen cling film that is incredibly fragile which adds all sorts of problems as it'd be so easy to tear the film at any point and would be likely to ruin the whole piece and require it to be scrapped.
I'm currently experimenting with combining other household materials to take the idea forward in new and unique ways that have never been done before.

Replete π¬π§ TPN Crew Graffiti β’ Leeds Graffiti Artist, by Replete on Aug 10, 2011 17:14:08 GMT 1, Another illusionary installation by me painted in a derelict factory in Leeds evolving the idea further and using several new houshold materials:
Spraypainted on several layers of clingfilm and tinfoil showing two hands holding an origami letter R.
Below is a short clip showing how it's elements are laid out:
