"When you run out of all ideas, you rip off Warhol.
Beejoir's new Canvas cleverly titled 'Oil Can' will be our next print release, in 10 colour ways, which I'm sure will make you cringe, each of an edition of 12 signed numbered and stamped."

Beejoir Oil Cans, by LEVI C on Oct 9, 2009 15:26:05 GMT 1, Are the 'T' and 'O' slightly higher in a poor effort to make the text looked wrapped around the can?
This must be a joke, weak idea, poor execution, the geezer is on the blag!
Sorry I just could hold back on this one, horses for courses I guess

WOW. That is a hell of a statement coming from the godfather of street art!

Agreed.
A lot of Beejoir's art has always looked like something by a A-Level student to me!
Was hoping for something better.

Can I ask that you dont use words such as "Crap" when describing artists work Its ok not to like it, but to use words like that crosses the line, and does not really show any respect to the Artist or other forum members who might like the art.
Thank you.

Beejoir Oil Cans, by schlomo on Oct 9, 2009 16:26:51 GMT 1, I actually like this, and as SOS are releasing it i'm sure it'll be cheap and very tempting.
Like Banksee says i will wait to see all the colours and the price before deciding on anything.
Personally and as Rsyok says, i think its quite a nice twist on the overused soupcan image, and fits with Beej's use of oil companies in previous pieces.
I'd prefer to have it on a small canvas than a print mind, think it would look better as a hand sprayed image than a print.....

Beejoir Oil Cans, by Martin Whatson on Oct 9, 2009 16:28:31 GMT 1, I really like theese. Nice twist and good idea IMO! as an artist myself I appreciate constructive chritisism, so if you want to hate on something, let us atleast know why you hate it.
Seen a couple different versions of this, and most of them looks great! Will try to get one or two of theese.
Peace & love

Beejoir Oil Cans, by Martin Whatson on Oct 9, 2009 16:48:25 GMT 1, never mind ripping off Warhol, did Beejoir borrow Banksy's stencil for the can top? They're awfully similar in detail
And banksy borrowed from Warhols maybe
Cant do too many variations of the tops if you ask me!

Beejoir Oil Cans, by Karl Read on Oct 9, 2009 17:55:51 GMT 1, @ Hlarmy, i dont know if you meant the beejoir or mine? I will answer anyway, its not actually a screenprint, well it is but on a tee for the brand i work for. They will be out next summer. Thats why i cant show the image now.
Martin Whatson, just messin. Mine is a "real rip" too. My point is, i actuactly think you can rip an idea off like the soup can but render it in your own way. Quite interesting seeing the soup cans altogether.

Agreed, except on he point of liking it. I dislike all the cans, regardless of whether they were drawn/painted/printed by Warhol, Banksy, Obey or any one of the other artists who've toyed with the idea. I wouldn't want any of them on the wall at home. I never found anything engraciating in any of them and while this one has an extra element to it, in terms of theme, I have to say I'm still pretty bored with the concept and struggle to understand the original idea, even if this is a different twist on that - and one which seems suitable for Chris. Just another can really!
That logo is very poorly executed indeed by the way. Looks like it (the logo) was drawn by a 10 year old imo.
