If so it could be cutbacks, Auction houses are cutting departments that are not performing.
Got a pal in a large auction house going through this kinda pressure
Shame

Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by nacional on Nov 28, 2012 15:32:37 GMT 1, Didn't realise a Charming Baker print (lot 19 was so valuable!!
Never seen the Dface Michael Jackson before, really like it...the Dface Pope one is going for under cost...I remember being offered it from source years ago for more than this estimate...and I don't think Dface's will go above estimate at the moment...don't know why...his career seems to be flying well...

"Droit de suite" royalty charges at 4% on items over 1000euros
Buyer's premium on this auction is 28.8%....

My understanding is that the law was changed at the start of the year and droit de suite now applies to all art work sold for more than β¬1k where the artist is either alive or has died in the last 75 years. That's probably a slight over simplification of the law but, yep, it'll now apply to pretty much all of Banksy's work now.

Dreweatts Art Auctions π¬π§, by Art-el on Dec 11, 2012 14:21:59 GMT 1, TEMWA are an amazing Bristol based charity. There are some great pieces in their section of the auction so dig deep and I think I'm correct in saying you pay no commission on charity lots. Win Win
This yearβs βArt for Africaβ for Temwa collection is one of their strongest yet, boasting exceptional pieces from artists, including Mr Jago, andy Council, Jim Starr, Dicy, K-Guy and Adam Koukoudakis.
Each piece has been uniquely created and donated to the event which means that all the money raised goes directly to Temwa.
Temwa has strong links with the urban art scene and as been supported by a wealth of talented artistβs since the charityβs conception in 2003, with the Art for Africa auctions being held annually in Bristol and London. Temwaβs projectβs in Malawi have expanded and are now helping to dramatically change the lives of thousands of people.
A full catalogue of the work for sale can be downloaded, please click here.
For further information please contact jo@temwa.org.uk or phone 07855 967 864.
Win a limited edition print!
And if you canβt make it to the auction in London, you can still get involved by purchasing a raffle ticket online (just go the website, and scroll down to the raffle link). Tickets cost just Β£5, and you will be in with the chance of winning one of these fabulous prizesβ¦
First Prize: A Will Barras limited edition dry point etching: βStormβ. Artist proof. 5 of 10. Second Prize: A Rowdy print: βNeon Nightlifeβ. Digital screen print. 50cm x 70cm. Third Prize: A limited edition Paris design Temwa t-shirt. Created by Paris especially for Temwa
