Banksy Laugh Now • DJ Dangermouse 12", by They call me Stephen on May 23, 2008 15:21:52 GMT 1, Juno claim it is only £5.99 on the main page but then the price hikes up to £9.99 when added to your basket...v cheeky me thinks
I've bought one in silver. Although I don’t agree with the whole affair surrounding this & dirty funker record, I love the image and can’t afford the real deal. I am under no pretense it’s a genuine article but am looking forward to getting it into a £10 record frame and putting it in my loo! ;D
This thread should be locked now before it becomes a 20+ page fiasco again!

Banksy Laugh Now • DJ Dangermouse 12", by thinkbank on May 23, 2008 15:38:30 GMT 1, i understand why people buy these but i have a problem with them because the artist does not profit from this in anyway.
its just a cynical ploy by record labels to make money, they saw the fuss caused by the dirty funker record and have simply copied that business model
we have even see Juno bump the price in the space of 2 hours!
when the artist, (be it Banksy or whoever) puts in all the work, goes thru the creative process and effort to create such an amazing image, why should we support others who rip it off for their own financial gain?
this is just a corporate version of the low lifes who spray up their own Banksy street pieces and sell them as genuine. by buying into it you are encouraging others to do it.
ok, he doesnt need the money, but that doesnt mean he should be ripped off either,
thats why id rather have a genuine banksy piece. at least it has Mr Bs approval.
i hope Banksy has something to do with this and im proved wrong, but i doubt. it.

There is no copyright on banksy stuff as its all illegal...

Banksy Laugh Now • DJ Dangermouse 12", by bullet on May 23, 2008 15:50:05 GMT 1, i have the perfect space for these and if they are metallic as well they will look awesome as a set up on the wall. Could not care less if they were real or not. If someone had these on ebay without anyone knowing about the juno release then they would probably be snapped up as they are unique and a good price

You clearly know nothing about copyright law. All those images are copyrighted. You are really pushing these records, do you work for the company pressing these?

Thats not what was said at all. JF said that he had a space on a wall for these pieces. And he also noted, correctly in my opinon that if he had seen this on ebay at the same price he would have been tempted.
You guys sure like to argue about not very much.
If your a graf artist if you cant let your art go, dont put it in the public domain. Once its wild its been set free. Have a coke, and a smile and shut the fkuc up!

While I understand where you are coming from thinkbank and sympathise with your view I think this last post of yours takes it a bit far - do you really think Banksy is going to be in any way affected by whether jboy buys a set of these covers or not???
If Banksy wanted to do something about these record cover releases he could. Everyone knows he created these images and he could claim copyright over them and sue the musician or more likely the businesses selling them. He CHOOSES not to. Whether he likes it or not that is seen legally at least as a tacit form of approval.

Banksy Laugh Now • DJ Dangermouse 12", by thinkbank on May 23, 2008 16:25:50 GMT 1, he may not like it, doesnt mean he wants to take action though and doesnt change the fact that he is being ripped off.
you know what the headlines would be if he started taking legal action
Underground artist using the legal system he hates to stop people making a fast buck. etc etc.
hardly worth the hassle for him is it?
