Banksy Street Art • IKEA Punk, by yeah on Sept 26, 2009 11:46:52 GMT 1, totally agree.
I think we are too harsh sometimes on artists. bottom line is that they are out there doing stuff. and not everything can be a brand new idea.
I think both are v.good, although the IKEA could have been done in a closer/more eyecatching site if prefered.
Have to say I don't like this piece at all! Really average idea. Not very clever. Well below par for Banksy. And repeating "No Ball Games" too! All seems a bit odd to me. What's happened to the poor chap? WTF do you want from the guy? Blood? I like the Graff Punk, think it's brilliant and even more so when you realize the location of the installation... Mmmm, Banks must stare at those IKEA stacks day in, day out, to come up with this idea, unless they've been notorious as of late? As far as No Ball Games, it's a take on past work, but he mashed it up so it's not the same... Rather a progression of sorts... ;D

"Sutton Council to let public decide on 'Banksy' graffiti"
A piece of graffiti thought to be the work of renowned guerrilla artist Banksy has appeared in Sutton – and the council is asking residents what should be done about it. The London borough has set up an email address asking residents to comment on whether the mural, in Coomber Way, should be removed or preserved. Sutton Council has two dedicated street cleansing teams who clear graffiti as soon as it is reported. However, it is aware that people have strong views on Banksy work with some seeing it as art and others as vandalism. The mural appeared earlier this month on the wall in Coomber Way, right on the borough boundary with Croydon and close to the IKEA superstore. It shows a punk standing next to a cardboard box marked ‘IEAK’ apparently reading instructions on how to put together a graffiti slogan. Councillor Colin Hall, Executive Member for Environment on Sutton Council, said: “The graffiti does look like a Banksy piece and many people have commented online to that effect. “We have dedicated teams in Sutton that remove graffiti on a daily basis. It’s hugely anti-social and something that we work quickly to eradicate. “However, we know people hold strong views on Banksy’s work with some seeing it as art while others view it as vandalism. “We will therefore be keeping an open mind on this and await feedback from the public before deciding what to do with the wall.” People can email their views to artorgraffiti@sutton.gov.uk

Might only be able to see it at night, have a look in the top right of the wall.
Maybe Silky and some self publicity!

But honestly, who could be arsed to do that? No life and too much time on their hands clearly!

Banksy Street Art • IKEA Punk, by Daniel Silk on Oct 8, 2009 11:52:14 GMT 1, Running a space like this is a bit like being a referee of a football match. We get Professional Fouls, Diving, People trying to get others sent off Its a fine balancing act to keep the game flowing and enjoyable to watch. I'm never gonna be popular with some people, but you could maybe compare those people to football hooligans who have no real interest in the game, and are only there to abuse and start fights with others. If your at a football match and some hooligans start a riot, do you join in and punch the nearest steward? You would then be running the risk of being thrown out or even arrested. Well its the same on here, if you spot trouble leave it alone and let others do their job

Good News.
I'm sure he will be back under another name so members will have to be careful when offered trades from America.
Would it be worthwhile to make a sticky thread somewhere describing his dealings so members know what to look out for?
