Calzaghe v Kesslar, by pw on Oct 28, 2007 13:56:38 GMT 1, this should be a great fight. i think calzaghe is too good for him but hes a bit of an enigma. hes probably past his best now and we might never know how good he really could have been cos he hasn't fought many top fighters. plus his hand seems to get injured in nearly every fight so hes probably only got a couple of fights left in him.

There were plenty of ppl like you saying that about him prior to the Lacy fight.
Joe will hurt Kesslar. Can't wait for this fight (nearly as much as the Hatton fight )

i think hes a great fighter and the lacy fight was great but lacy wasnt yet established. more of a very good prospect. there are lots of true and proven great fighters in his division like Toney, Hopkins and Jones that he could have fought but hasnt. as a fan im just disapointed that these fights havent happened. he still may have time to get those fights and establish himself as a true great. i hope he does but i think his reccuring hand injury is going to be the thing that ends his career. and sooner rather than later. just my opinion of course. great to chat about boxing though!

Calzaghe v Kesslar, by jipsy on Oct 29, 2007 8:05:23 GMT 1, He is already a true great. Toney's now a heavyweight and Jones and Hopkins have dodged Joe for years. Lacey fought Joe after destroying Robin Reid in a few rounds, he was a bloody good fighter.
Ineed now to get the Setanta sorted out.

Calzaghe v Kesslar, by bert on Nov 2, 2007 22:21:01 GMT 1, Sentanta have an offer on their website £5 a month for the first 3 months with no contract. Bargain considering you get the fight and some footie too.
Am defo gonna sit down with a few beers and watch this on Sat night, really hope Joe can win. Kessler just made the weight earlier, apparently he had to take his pants off to save 2 ounces and sneak under at the weigh in!

I did not know this was not on normal tv, I really love Calzaghe so will have to find out about Setanta, so thank you! I wish Mr CBL loved sport but he doesn't so he won't watch all of it with me!! I grew up with three older brothers so I love sport thanks to them.

Nice darts!!
The odds for Ricky to win are unbelievable but the bookies did slip up with the Lacy fight like that.
Great group on facebook.... " I hope Ricky Hatton gives Mayweather a fecking good hiding!" ;D

Calzaghe v Kesslar, by manchestermike on Nov 3, 2007 22:54:12 GMT 1, Preview from my blog:
Tonight's Boxing
I'm loathe to curse Joe Calzaghe and with the day I'm having today hope I don't but his price tonight is too good to turn down. Calzaghe has the edge in so many departments, speed, hand speed, experience, style, chin (Kessler's hasn't really been tested) and stamina. He has beaten better fighters than Kessler, while Kessler has toiled against much lesser opposition. Granted Kessler is unbeaten, but one man's record will go tonight.
That is not to underestimate Kessler, he is a very good fighter but this is his first major fight outside his native Denmark (he has fought outside Denmark twice but not against what you would class as 'major' opponents). It will be tough but I think Kessler is too one dimensional, he hits to straight and Joe should be able to read him well. Even at odds on Calzaghe is a more than decent bet and I think he's worth the full 5 point bet.
I'll also be taking him to win inside the distance. While more than fit enough to last if needed I think he'll prove too much for the great Dane and send him home tail between his legs.
5pts Calzaghe to beat Kessler @ 1.74 1pt Calzaghe to win by KO, TKO or DQ @ 4.5
In the other main fight in Cardiff Enzo Maccarinelli takes on the unbeaten Mohamed Azzaoui. Although Azzaoui is unbeaten he has been brought into this fight as a punch-bag. Enzo is expected to demolish him, can probably will do. However you do not get a record of 22 wins and 0 losses (2 draws) from being a bad fighter. Azzaoui could feasibly hold Enzo for a while before the inevitable win. I'm going for a small interest bet on this one.
0.25pts Maccarinelli to win in Round 9 @ 25 0.25pts Maccarinelli to win in Round 10 @ 34 0.25pts Maccarinelli to win in Round 11 @ 44 0.25pts Maccarinelli to win in Round 12 @ 70

Football on there's good if you're a Liverpool fan judging by a quick look at their listings.

MM, If you really want to clean up check out the odds on Hatton
Jeff Lacy just been added to the hatton/mayweather bill against Peter Manfredo.
Manfredo has won all his fights since Calzaghe demolished him whilst Lacy only just scraped through on a points win after coming back from a shoulder injury.
Should be a good one!

Calzaghe v Kesslar, by discoduster on Nov 4, 2007 9:55:39 GMT 1, The fight itself last night was great as predicted and proved what an outstanding boxer and legend Joe is.
Changing his style midway to adapt to Kessler was excellent. I like seeing Calzaghe take a good punch as that just fires him up and he lets rip at his opponent twice as hard! Never had any doubts about Calzaghe during the fight although I always get nervous when he starts dropping his hands
Kessler himself is a great boxer and will no doubt get those belts back when Joe lets them go. He has to be the biggest super middleweight I've seen.
Be interesting to see where Calzaghe goes from here after saying there's nothing left for him at this weight.
DD

Where's about's is that mate, if you don't mind me asking.
I was working in Milford Haven couple a weeks ago, right out in the sticks. They love their boxing in Wales!
Re: Enzos punch, Wasn't there some scientific test done recently where they compared one of his punches as the same as being hit by a Transit van at 25mph!! ;D

Calzaghe v Kesslar, by Deleted on Nov 4, 2007 11:01:41 GMT 1, In Swansea. My father is a police man and was called to a disturbance. When he got there, it was Enzo's house. Enzo looks after a neighbour who has mental problems. Enzo teaches him how to box. This lad started getting a bit nasty with somebody on the street, so the police were called ;D
The Enzo Calzaghe (Joe's dad) gym are producing a few really good boxers at the moment.

Too right! Enzo has to be the best trainer in the business. I think it was the last Calzaghe fight where all (10 i think) of the undercard were trained by Enzo, they all won!

Calzaghe v Kesslar, by streetgirl on Nov 4, 2007 20:43:30 GMT 1, Still can't understand why Calzaghe, who has been at the top of his game for over 10 years, still fails to get any recognition at all...is it just that he's shunned the spotlight and glamour of it all?
Him or Hatton for sports personality of the year.

If When Hatton beats pretty boy he's surely a shoo-in
