Have to say I don't really understand the 'unbalanced' comments however I do understand that it possibly 'cheapens' the piece of art. Personaly I don't think it has been overdone, it is in keeping with the exploding rat and looks as though it has been 'blown up' in the box!

I also think the close up is a little misleading, when looked at as a whole it looks perfectly 'balanced' to me, perhaps the photo's don't really do it justice?

I agree with MM on this one... I think it's only right that a framer is given a certain amount of artistic leeway and as Mike says, it worked quite well on the framing of the VA print, but I feel it may have been taken a little far in this case as the splashes actually obscure the clear view of the canvas.

Whilst the effect that the rat has been blown up in the perspex box may be quite amusing at first, I fear it will quickly wear off and become annoying in the long run.

Lovely canvas though.

When I had the Procrastination piece framed I considered having a few footprints dabbed onto the rear mount but decided against it mainly for that one reason that I reckoned the novelty would wear off pretty quickly (and also because I didn't really trust the framer to do it any real justice).

Didn't you already have the Ratatouille canvas framed differently before? Fairly sure I remember you posting a pic of it in a frame (i.e. not a box) before this.

Have to agree, I think that the close up image is misleading and when looked at as a whole it does look very balanced. It was impotant not to go over the top with the effect and I am very pleased that you like it jonpud - At the end of the day you are the one that we framed it for! if I didnt think that it worked I would have talked you out of having it done! Dale and I love what we do and it is always a pleasure working with people who are open minded and willing to try something different.

I do also agree that there is no need for anyone to apologise for it not being to their taste - If everyone on here wanted white box frames for every piece of work then the world of framing would be a lot less exciting place to be! I believe that framing should be as personal and as individual as the work itself and the person hanging it on their wall!

It is always great to see how a piece of framing can command so many opinions and comments - Good or bad!

Guess we must be getting noticed! ;D

Cheers Gary, think you hit the nail on the head when you said that framing is personal, and not everyone would like the same thing.

I'm half/half on this one - I think the splashes are very effective and well done - but I'm just not a fan of perspex frames on canvases - I don't like all the joins and I imagine they don't age well. Now if you could only cast a perspex box in one piece...

hopefully nobody minds me jumping on this thread but i would consider swapping my v for vandal for a ratatouille. since the seller doesn't want swaps if anybody is interested in buying a v for vandal for what it would cost me to buy ratatouille from timba then let me know. it would probably be in the £490 to £500 ballpark after two lots of postage are accounted for.

i don't really want to sell the v for vandal but my missus isn't keen on it at all. there is a v for vandal on ebay at the moment for £516 with almost 5 days to go so it isn't a financial thing for me.
