New Conor Harrington & Faile at Laz, by ABC on Mar 23, 2007 21:03:00 GMT 1, Agreed Tyler, those blek prints IMO got snapped so quickly it had to be by scalpers, IMO they are a week image and they were expensive. Its madness what prints are selling for initially and we are to blame for the frenzy. Agree Certain prints are amazing, Neates, Smalls, and yes I like the Conors H but they are a lot of money. Certain people say "they are worth it" but go back 6 months and if you put a price tag of 800 Inc Vat most would have laughed and not touched with a barge poll. Please feel free to justify the fact that you feel obliged to buy encase you are missing out on the band wagon. Yes I have sold a few prints but it seems that all we see is people offloading Grannies, Applause etcetc which to me says people have bought for profit, not for collections. I know everyone buys for an investment (I do) but not everything that is released on any site, thats madness and will backfire. Proof is in the pudding, sales on ebay of prints from the likes of Eelus, Nick walker, Dolk, Insect have dropped, some are now selling for less than cost which makes me chuckle Before anyone slates me and this post,s I have been a interested in Art and collecting for over 15 years now, not just street art but all aspects, Studied Art, Design and Art history etc etc and in the last year I have seen a change that is not about collecting for love but all about lets get it no matter the cost. I would sell a kidney to get the new Micallef prints but at that price Laz can keep them.

Good points ABC, after a certain point art is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Regardless of quality I think the Bleks are really weak but hey someone bought them & very quickly at that. Advertising them on the forum is sure to encourage a quick uptake as a lot of people buy now before someone else can so they don't live to regret it.
Its only a matter of time before people start to think twice about what they buy & especially as some stuff is starting to finish at lower than cost prices. Some work isn't such a good 'investment'

New Conor Harrington & Faile at Laz, by victorwilliams on Mar 24, 2007 0:10:37 GMT 1, Buying what you like is best. Thats the best advise anyone can give, my first visit to POW was to purchase a Kelsey Brookes print the main reason for this was because of the price not because I loved the print that much. Just before buying it I asked to see the Micallefs bombers and the rest is history I left with Bomber 1# under my arm £175 down but with a massive smile on my face. Now 5 months down the line Micallefs work has blown up where as Brookes has almost stayed the same, double bonus!!!

New Conor Harrington & Faile at Laz, by reados on Mar 24, 2007 1:41:29 GMT 1, nice one abc, being honest about buying prints for their investment value aswell as their asthetic value.
Its nice to know you have bought something that may go up in value, it justifies the cost of buying even if its a small amount. The higher the value of the print over how long you keep it on the wall, is a good indication on how much you love the image. if you can't bring yourself to stick it on the bay, it must be good.
I ain't selling my "girl and baloon" or "HMV" ever. yet!

To a certain degree, For instance I knew that the Adam Neate prints would be a hit but I went for only one, the one I liked, I could have bought all three and sold the other two that I didnt like which in turn would have paid for the one I bought. Its easy to buy everything but harder to keep your head up when talking to people at galleries and shows when you are only in it for the money. I truly love art and bore everyone around by talking about it 24/7, not everyone is the same though as money is a strong attraction, so with whats going on in the art world at the moment its not hard to see why this frantic purchasing is happening. Good luck to em but I just hope I get a Trollies or I will be maoning forever

New Conor Harrington & Faile at Laz, by neutral on Mar 24, 2007 12:48:34 GMT 1, My name is Neutral and I am addicted to art ! I could not agree more with the above comments, from the latest blek images along the line of a certain mona lisa somehow. No offense to anyone liking these images... Frenzy buying is very popular these day and for sure people will regret it if only buying with dollars in their minds. I too buy various pieces, from contemporary to street art as well as friends work and so on. Some of which I like and know it is an investement, some of which I like and investement is just out of my head. I need to like and feel connected to buy, I passed on the Adam Neate prints for that reason (as well as the giclee issue, I am a pain on these things ). I have pieces i ll never sell and some I will probably soon as I have something that just came up forcing me to make choices, lucky enough these are not painfull. Having said that when you love a piece or print and know somehow it is worth double/triple... the amount you originally paid for, it is a good feeling. Maybe just because interest in the bank account are, well........pointless really in comparaison!

New Conor Harrington & Faile at Laz, by sausageboonwee on Apr 15, 2007 19:49:46 GMT 1, Phat Planet, sounds like you really want one of the CH prints. From experience holding back on a piece has meant me missing out on more than one occasion and I still regret those 'til this day. If you like the print I would say go for it. Some people on here did similar on the Neate prints and there has been many shared regrets on this forum. You know what will happen to the price when it says sold out on the Laz site.

I was the second person to go to Laz Inc and pick mine up. After parting with the money, the assistant kindly TOLD me, "I'm GIVING you number 13". If it was first come first served I should have got 2/50. As I did get one I wasn't complaining and didn't mind the number too much, being the superstitious fellow that I am!
The assistant was kind enough to try and get me to pre-order a signed Faile book. Best part of £900 was enough for one day I thought - we'll see how much I live to regret that decision of not getting that book!
