Choe Prints on Laz, by Cocteau 101 on Mar 1, 2008 13:01:40 GMT 1, Just ordered - love the City Girls series. If anyone has close uppics of the London watercolours I'd be very interested - look quite different to the Newcastle ones.

Choe Prints on Laz, by mcnuts on Mar 1, 2008 13:12:05 GMT 1, all in tubes unfortunately. number 12 was on display, which was actually the one i wanted as I have CG76 number 12. I think the one i've got has more embellishment. If i'd thought about it, i would have worked out where the end of each signing run is.....there are pics online of him signing editions etc and at the end of each load, i think its about 20 at a time, he does a little doodle. I think thats right anyway, i could be talking s hit. So maybe in theory numbers 20, 40, 60 etc all have doodles. I think McNuts got one of those, so i'll have to ask him if he had any doodles.....
nothin on number 20 bugger

Choe Prints on Laz, by a4mnt on Mar 1, 2008 13:44:02 GMT 1, This had to not be sold still :
;D
I think its funny.
I'm surprised this is still available - but not that surprised as its Β£20k. I suppose there were more detailed pieces for the same price, like Sirens. But this looked great in the flesh.
Not great photos, but my favourite of the London watercolours :
Double Happiness
Rhino Stomp
Drive or Die

Good to see the detail up close; I've never been grabbed by this series but I'm starting to warm to the girl now; will probably wait until they've sold out before deciding I want one though!

Choe Prints on Laz, by uac on Mar 1, 2008 14:08:34 GMT 1, Not really feeling the prints, i dont really think they represent his larger works. I think more older style prints would have been much more appealing.

Choe Prints on Laz, by a4mnt on Mar 1, 2008 14:33:50 GMT 1, UAC - these prints certainly don't represent the amount of detail Choe can put into certain pieces, but they are entirely different to those originals.
Its usually OuterEdge that puts out the detailed pieces anyway. I wouldn't be surprised to know that Andrew has photos taken of all the works from the Laz show, if he decides to release as prints. There is a reason, i'/m sure, why we've seen a picture of his standing amongst the see/hear/speak no evil canvasses.
At least one of the other London originals is apparently earmarked as a future print.
DaveH - good to see you again on Thursday....though i'm always worse for wear at the end of a show so best catch me at the start when i'm making sense slightly...... ;D

Choe Prints on Laz, by daveh on Mar 1, 2008 15:17:25 GMT 1, I'm quite liking that quite a lot of the art/artists I like don't always make for a great print; size and interaction with the surfaces (plus the element of suprise) form an experience as much as an image in my head, and I think sometimes the print just reminds me of that to some extent. Not in all cases by any means- just makes shows and street work all the better IMHO
Not worse for wear- more refreshed and enthusiastic; particularly with your Choe Ashley 1/1 - quality!

Choe Prints on Laz, by arcam on Mar 1, 2008 15:50:38 GMT 1, city girl ed 76 on the right an old and imo his best release yet The new City Girl is much nicer imo. I wasn't a big fan of the 75 edition so wasn't expecting to like the London City Girl. But it was lovely in the flesh, I went with the intention of getting Seedy but City Girl was much nicer. I really liked Dokebi as well, all very different.

I have that on my City Girl 76 (along with a guy waving drawn in pencil around the number and David's whale character in pencil on the top). There's old photos on here somewhere.
I like the original City Girl better because the City on top of her head is more urban looking. Im not familiar with London but dont really get the whole carnival, ferris wheel on her head. Im sure you cats from London get a much different feel though.

Choe Prints on Laz, by a4mnt on Mar 1, 2008 18:28:28 GMT 1, Isn't the skyscraper in the middle not even built in London yet? It looks familiar, but i don't remember seeing it.
In fact i've just looked it up and its not built yet. Its going to be in Bishopsgate, which kinda makes London Girl ahead of her time.....
Hey Bonesy - whats wrong with our ferris wheel?
Thats all us Londoners do at the weekends, just fuck about on that thing.
Its a regular fun fair all the time here mate.

LOL. Im not dissing your guys ferris wheel, its sounds like fun for the whole family, I just didnt know you guys had a ferris wheel that was such a vital part the city.
It is named London Girl so I guess it should represent London, just like City Girl represents a general urban city. I know nothing about London so I squint and look at the details on top of her head thinking "what the hell is that thing?"
