They're selling Paul Insect Silvers for over Β£1k, that would get around Β£350 - Β£400 anywhere else.
WTF basically!

Dean Zeus Colman π¬π§ Zeus Graffiti Artist, Streetopoly, by br1stol on Nov 24, 2008 19:44:44 GMT 1, Personally i think this is an awful idea... I never liked this idea of an artist hierachy created simply on how much their work sells for - although im not nieve enough to believe it doesnt exist - and this image just spells out a horrible ranking of 'in' 'street'-artists. A very ugly piece. (and i quite like a game of monopoly too...)

personally i think your taking it a little too seriously - its a bit of fun IMO
Banksy is the symbolic Mayfair i grant you that but many of the others are not so much in rank of 'ebayability' or their value in auction...parla for instance
maybe they are to a certain degree but i dont think its overly considered - maybe it was meant to be and just poorly executed!! i duno - but i see it as just a bit of fun - however Β£400 for an ugly looking card with banksy on it!!!

The piece pokes fun at the idea of buying art purely as an investment and you don't like it because it highlights the financial aspects of the street art scene of which you disapprove? I'd say that means it works perfectly and you've missed the point!

I agree that some of the secondary market prints on my site are overpriced at the moment. It's hard to keep up with the constant swings in ebay prices, and i've not changed a lot of them since the peak 6 months ago. Conversely there are also some bargains.
As always, if you're interested in something, feel free to make an offer. I'm not out to rip anybody off, and if we can agree on a fair price that we're both happy with then that's great.
I'm also working on redesigning and relaunching the site, so everything will be updated soon enough.
With regard to the Insect prints, the price quoted is for a matching numbered pair of 'Love' and 'Peace' prints. I've not checked ebay lately to get the latest prices, but it's not far above cost.

The artists around the board are not ranked in any order. The point of the piece is not to argue the toss about whether Faile is worth more than Parla, but to poke fun at the money merry-go-round of the street art world these days. The artist positions are deliberately random as it reflects how often success can ride on the artistic equivalent of the roll of the dice - getting a show at Laz / Elms Lesters. Getting your work bought by Damien Hirst. Flippers deciding your work is a good punt.
Also please appreciate the sheer magnificence of the original piece - which was painstakingly handpainted, and then given over on opening night to a battering from drunk graffiti artists and a river of caipirinha

Dean Zeus Colman π¬π§ Zeus Graffiti Artist, Streetopoly, by Prescription Art on Nov 25, 2008 0:17:53 GMT 1, however Β£400 for an ugly looking card with banksy on it!!!
The individual squares are hand-painted pieces on wood. The pictures on my site are just mock-ups, but the finished piece will look superb.
Incidentally, this is a commission he's just completed, for Current TV. I believe the other end of the arrow goes through into the TV studio.

Dean Zeus Colman π¬π§ Zeus Graffiti Artist, Streetopoly, by Prescription Art on Nov 27, 2008 13:26:30 GMT 1, Zeus has just completed the first of the boards we're selling... each square from the Streetopoly board is done as a one-off painting on wood, with the price being that shown on the board. i.e. the Eine square below was Β£60 and the Faile one was Β£180. They look fantastic.

I really like it, but why are you basing the price of the wooden panel on the artists name on it?? its not done by Faile, so why should it cost more than the one that says Eine?? Or am i missing something here???

Why should a Faile cost more than an Eine? Well I guess that is one of the questions the piece is trying to address.

There are only a few left now... can't believe no-one's bought the D*Face one for only Β£200. Conor Harrington for Β£140 is a proper bargain as well!

Zeus has produced a 2009 version of 'Streetopoly', with new artists and a lovely distressed background.
This is being released jointly by Prescription Art and Urban Angel in an edition of 100.
It's a giclee print measuring 70x70cm, and is covered with a layer of varnish.. with added spot varnishes on the coloured squares.
It'll be available to purchase online from both Prescription Art and Urban Angel on Friday 10th April costing Β£150, however both Andrew and myself are taking pre-orders before then.
Zeus is currently working on a show overseas (of which you'll be hearing more), so we have to wait for him to get back before releasing it.
People visiting the Urban Angel '2000AD' show this weekend (4th / 5th April) can see the print and get a Β£10 discount on the full purchase price.
Otherwise if you are interested in purchasing a copy, please contact:
james at prescriptionart.com
or
sales at urbanangel.com
