Banksy • Rodeo Girl • GIFT Print, by jarw on Aug 2, 2021 5:55:04 GMT 1, If Banksy gifted an employee of his a print back in 2005 and the employee saw it being signed by Banksy and there’s proof that person worked there would that print have value if the person wanted to sell it. Everything can be confirmed - even Banksy’s signature and the piece is in perfect condition. Not part of a numbered set, no Pest Control COA - Just a great Banksy print w a great signature. Bansky gifted so one day it can be sold and the employee can make money on it. If the auction market for that piece is 100k how much would the piece be worth? Much less cause of no Pest Control?

Banksy • Rodeo Girl • GIFT Print, by storm breaker on Aug 2, 2021 9:00:41 GMT 1, I'd probably be sucking up to Laz and see if he'd authenticate it for you.
Then contract Joseph Fine Art as they will have no issue selling for you...

Banksy • Rodeo Girl • GIFT Print, by Charlie Bronson on Aug 2, 2021 9:07:00 GMT 1, That’s a tough sell to someone looking to buy a $100k Banksy. At that price point, with how the market is right now, there are some good options, signed with COA. Personally, I wouldn’t spend much on a piece that was gifted, and relies solely on the word/trust of someone that I don’t know in terms of authenticity. In fact, I wouldn’t spend anything on a piece with that provenance. That’s just my opinion though. There may be people out there willing to buy.

For me, there is no issue with such artwork.
In the case of the Cans Festival piece from 2008, it is one artist, curator and organiser having dedicated a print to a fellow artist and event participant. I see that as having increased appeal due to its historical relevance.
Here's a thought experiment for you:
Would you feel equally ambivalent if offered a 1984 Jean‑Michel Basquiat sketch that also had a dedication to his friend and mentor, Andy Warhol?

This would be one area where our respective views as collectors differ.
All else being equal, I myself would consider a Basquiat sketch as having greater significance (and would therefore value it more highly) if it were dedicated to Warhol, as opposed to just being signed.

What if it was dedicated to his mate Jack for example (a nobody)?
