It was the safer day possible to be out and about in the city. As much as he wants to make us think he just got a message to go and he went there it's not really like that (and he definitely doesn't move like a regular civilian). And also, Times magazine (which it may be one of his patreon...) was behind that too no?


Don't get me wrong, anything to support Ukraine it's great and amazing (and he will definitely raise quite a lot of money, which is great news!). 
But that "Can art change the War?" tagline is pretty meh (from my point of view)... Ukraine right now it's not a 'Ted Talk' let's be fair.

My first thoughts re JR were that he was a bit of a dilettante, a bon vivant. But I was curious, and years back when he did his Times Square photo truck my son and I participated. Last year one of the more diverse schools near me in Brooklyn took the images of themselves and pasted them up all over the facade of their school, laughing having fun and taking pride in themselves. A number of other NYC teachers also had their classes get involved in the Inside Out project. We went to the NYC Ballet collaboration, and after met him, he signed the poster for my son. I think he’s creating an interesting body of work of which his prints are just a small part, in some ways his entire thing is performance art, not unlike what Gordon Matta Clark did, a socially conscious statement documented by photographs. I do love his ballerina print amongst the boxcars.

I found a nice JR piece for sale - but missing the C.O.A. (obviously, priced accordingly!).
How do you guys feel about buying pieces without c.o.a. or receipt of purchase? Is it a 'no-no' if I want to resell it in the future?

Contact the artist via DM and ask him if it is real, if he says yes then ask him for a COA.

JR is definitely not replying on an IG message asking if one of his piece is real...pretty sure he got better things to do. Nor the galleries will supply with anything over a picture you sent them.

I'm 99% is real (I don't think JR is yet in the counterfeit market?) - it's more about the fact that its value may be lower?

Hello All,

(Im reposting my question in this thread as i think i posted my last one in the wrong place.)
I have a question about a JR Hold Up print i bought years ago on Ebay.

I bought this print off Ebay in 2009 as a numbered but unsigned print.

The original seller (from the UK so maybe they're on here ) said that they had recieved the print from Found LA numbered but unsigned and had been sent a replacement signed print allowing them to keep the unsigned one.

They told me that they had mails to confirm this but they never sent them to me and my mail to the gallery itself to enquire about the print went unanswered.

This print has remained in its tube since then (mostly due to the fact that my partner doesnt like it ) and has not been framed and is in perfect condition.

What kind of value (if any) would this print have??

I keep trying to upload pictures but they seem to disappear in edge and chrome but not firefox?

I tried the contact mail i found on their site back in the day (2009/2010).

Yeah it seems they have been shut down for a good few years now.
