Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by dantefires on Jun 3, 2009 0:13:10 GMT 1, I think the original thread has somewhat disintegrated into speculation, no reason to suggest this one wont do likewise. Does anyone really know whats going on?
If PC are representing B, then surely they would announce something and if it is them, how they going to do this, through the POW mailing list, word of mouth??
Maybe it is all being kept under wraps for now to avoid any pre show chaos or it could all be just a load of all swallocks.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by G-Man on Jun 3, 2009 6:33:13 GMT 1, I would be gobsmacked if there is a show in 9 days now
PC would want to ensure that the right amount of publicity surrounded the show and 9 days is a hell of a tight turnaround for that
I hope I'm wrong though!

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Heavyconsumer on Jun 3, 2009 6:59:15 GMT 1, I don't agree G-Man. There's no need for them to have pandemonium in the streets with people stepping all over eachother to see/buy what's on offer, especially if it's a conceptual ahow and there are no sales (which would be my preference). They will get plenty of write-ups in all the papers and there will be sh1tloads of buzz, regardless of whether they leave it late to announce it, announce it early, or even just open the doors quietly. This is one show that will need no hype imo. I don't expect Banksy to repeat the Petstore theme, although if he did I'm sure it would be as creative and brilliant as last time. Naturally I have no idea what it might or might not be.
Dantefires, who says there will be anything for sale? They didn't send emails out about the last show either.

I fear you (or I) may start a trend here but if anyone else has a spare invite I would be most grateful Happy to share travelling costs down from London as well if anyone is heading down that way, either for the preview or on the Saturday (assuming the show is in Brizzle).

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Happy Shopper on Jun 3, 2009 10:23:35 GMT 1, No way they'd announce anything until it's finished and ready to open. If Banksy has to put stuff up, there's no way he wants cameras photographing everyone that goes in and out of the venue.

Tend to agree with this.

Good point HS
I'm never gonna get a preview invite in a million years but someone must need driving there and back for free???

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by schlomo on Jun 3, 2009 11:26:14 GMT 1, i've heard from a reliable source that its gonna be a coffee shop and that Mr B has done all the electrics for it, and sorted out the coffee machine as it was a bit rubbish, plus he's got the toasted sandwich maker going and is making cheese sandwiches for all....
As well as that he will be reciting poetry from his latest book, 'What ever i do people will buy, a short selection of poems by Gerald Bankovich, aka Banksy'.
Not likely but how funny would it be???

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by doublehelix on Jun 3, 2009 12:23:20 GMT 1, We've heard that Banksy brought all of Mr Brainwash's documentary footage shot over nine years and intends to edit the film himself. It would be great to see that film as the centerpiece of any upcoming show.
"MBW has spent the last nine years attempting to make the ultimate documentary about graffiti art. But whilst filming many of the world’s most renowned street artists at work MBW began putting his camera aside and making art of his own. He has graduated from a few hand drawn stickers to giant billboard sized paste-ups, eventually becoming one of the most prolific street artists in California.
MBW does not fit the stereotype of your average street vandal. His artistic process chiefly consists of throwing random modern cultural icons into a blender and turning it up to eleven. The results are by turns profound, provocative and inspirational." Banksy

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by doublehelix on Jun 3, 2009 13:14:55 GMT 1, If the film does get played anywhere near a Banksy show though, I promise to eat an entire MBW print between two very big bits of bread.
It's apparently no longer a MBW film, it's a Banksy film and some say the whole MBW show/phenomenon is the twist at the end, MBW and his success are a Banksy creation.
Starting at 3.41 in the video below:
"MBW: I had a visit from an artist named Banksy. He just took a poster exactly where we are here, and he start making me a plan of what the next four months are going to be."

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by dantefires on Jun 3, 2009 13:24:33 GMT 1, I don't agree G-Man. They didn't send emails out about the last show either.
hi hc, i never said there may be anything for sale, just throwing out there how are people going to know about the show. true to say it probably wont need much to gain momentum, but even still surely there has to be some pr of sorts.
for the pow open day, this was on there home page for weeks before the event, plus sent e-mails out nearer the time.
do pc even have a mailing list?

Video above also says he's the most recognisable street artist in the world, so realism needed when watching.
MBW also claims to have been an artist years before he started making this film, until he sold all his stuff to Michael Jackson. I don't believe that either

Haha. If I was a betting man (which come to think of it I am), I'd go with the loafers and frames over MBW involvement any day!
