Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by trowel on Aug 27, 2009 22:34:14 GMT 1, A tip for skipping the queue which genuinely worked for me ..... Go with your wife / girlfriend / female partner and mention that she is pregnant. We got in within 1 minute! Helps if she is a bit plump! My mate did exactly that 3 days before his missus gave birth - I think he asked her to cross her legs till he'd found everything

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by samo on Aug 28, 2009 0:02:19 GMT 1, Just got back from my 2 day trip to Bristol. It was absolutely worth the trip and I really enjoyed the show. The hotel was only a 7 minute walk from the museum. I went to the show last Wednesday and started queuing at 8.15 a.m. and was in the museum at about 12 p.m.
Unfortunately the postcards where sold out , so if someone has a spare set that he/she wants to sell me please let me know. I would be very thankful

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by scoote on Aug 28, 2009 7:31:48 GMT 1, Got in the queue at 7 after a two hour journey. Seems worth it as only about 50 from the front. Hopefully they will open at 9 !

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by scoote on Aug 29, 2009 0:02:55 GMT 1, So that would be 'q', 'cue', or 'queue', all aceptabel, they opened at 8.30a.m. this morning. I would think that this would be the case for the next three days or maybe they will open at 8, as they seem to be opening half an hour earlier every day. If you havent made it yet then I would suggest that you do. After the exhibition, head down the hill to the Stokes Crofts Peoples Republic. They will give you sound advice on other places and pieces worth visiting, although one of the shopkeepers is rather deaf. At one point she apologised and asked if she was shouting ! Anyway if you are around that area and see Kinos cafe, get yourself a falaffel they are rather sublime, one might say.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by sug on Aug 29, 2009 11:05:11 GMT 1, I really got this wrong......thought if I went towards the end the masses will have been and gone. Now I've got to decide if it's worth risking the cost of flight/hotel only to then not get in.

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by ricobenfico on Aug 29, 2009 23:32:46 GMT 1, Well, it was a 7 hour waiting time today!!! We were up early and in the queue by 8.30am and got in just after 1pm. By the time we were leaving the news from the officials was that it was 7 hours today. Nuts!!! But i would say definitely worth it, internet pics don't do the show justice!!!

best advice I've had in ages on here! Went with a mate and his wife who is 7 months pregnant. We were ushered straight in. A MASSIVE thank you to the staff at the museum.... and to Lieberman for the tip!

Banksy Bristol City Museum Show, by Deleted on Sept 2, 2009 14:22:39 GMT 1, 16 page "souvenir supplement" in today's evening post.
Art critic: Banksy should have been put down at birth.
Art critic Brian Sewell has said that Banksy "should have been put down at birth".
He also said Bristol City Council's proposals to put to the vote what graffiti art in the city should be kept was "bonkers" and that the popularity of Banksy vs Bristol Museum was another sign that "the art world has gone absolutely crazy".
Talking to a national newspaper, Mr Sewell said: "The two words 'graffiti' and 'art' should never be put together.
"The public doesn't know good from bad. For this city to be guided by the opinion of people who don't know anything about art is lunacy. It doesn't matter if they (the public) like it. It will result in a proliferation of entirely random decoration, for want of a better word. Buildings of fine quality, and there are many in Bristol, will be defaced. The architecture must take primacy over whatever street artists may want to do.
"Any fool who can put paint on canvas or turn a cardboard box into a sculpture is lauded.
"Banksy should have been put down at birth. It's no good as art, drawing or painting. His work has no virtue. It's merely the sheer scale of his impudence that has given him so much publicity."
Councillor Gary Hopkins, cabinet member for environment, said: "I think this man needs to get out more. People in Bristol passed comment on whether they liked Banksy four years ago when they voted on keeping his work in Frogmore Street."
Banksy was not available for comment last night.
