Hutch π¬π§ Brighton Street Artist β’ Stencil Art β’ For Sale, by gibbin82 on Oct 16, 2011 9:41:01 GMT 1, The pink Rollergirl sold on July 23 and the seller bought it from Art Republic, all this I know because I just searched through my emails for the contact I had with the seller asking for all the COA proof before I made a bid. So unless AR are now seller fake prints it was all above board and fetched the grand total of Β£93.35p. It sold in the mid morning while I was at work and forgot to get to a computer to make a last minute bid.
IMO the buyer of that Pink Rollergirl got a bargain and a more realistc value would have been somewhere between Β£150 to Β£200. eBay is not the most reliable indicator of value when things appear rarely, get two people who are desperate and it could have gone silly. Also mid morning during the working week is the worst time to end a listing, who knows how many other people that may have been interested couldn't find time to get to a computer or forgot, a listing finishing in the evening is always better for the seller. Just out of interest how much would have you bid if you had been able to place one?

Hutch π¬π§ Brighton Street Artist β’ Stencil Art β’ For Sale, by iamzero on Oct 16, 2011 10:04:12 GMT 1, At the time I would've bid maybe Β£120 or a little higher as I was really looking for a blue version. I hadn't started watching the print market as such a few months ago but now I'm learning how this collecting game goes and still wouldn't pay more than Β£150 for that print. But that doesn't mean that print is valued at Β£150! The same Banksy prints are constantly being advertised on ebay for Β£5k but regularly fetch only around Β£3,500. So what is the true value of that print? Whatever someone whats to pay on the day! I'm also finding that sellers are always happy to over inflate what they think the items in their collection are worth and become very defensive when an item doesn't sell for the high price they expected. But isn't that the simple logic of supply and demand?
It would seem that items from people collections appear on ebay just as soon as they are sold out from gallery sources too, eg I bought the last Harry Fett by Ryca from Scrawl Collective a few weeks back and then as if by magic 2 turn up on ebay for nearly double original price. Coincidence? I could give more examples of Charming Bakers and Ben Eines I own.
But isn't that part of the excitment of this hobby, having a great looking print that keeps going up in value? Everyone loves a bargain... except the seller.
Just an opinion from a new collector.

I'm with you Coach. Maybe its the contrast or hue. I can't put my finger on it, but it's most appealing. Hutch, the one hit wonder in the art world. The New Bohemians of art. Better one than none!

Also there's a canvas on eBay for about Β£1099, is this a realistic value? Thanks for all your help
